Must pass physical first, unless he already did.

seems very coincidental with the other Carter getting cut the same day...

I was very doubtful that he'd be back from this, but I'll be glad if i'm wrong.

One Carter.
None.
Another Carter.
Fun.

How much does he still have in the tank after the injury and another year older?

Stay tuned. ;)

Let's hope he comes back! Could really help our pass rush especially our young guys we drafted.

The age + injury would probably mean retirement for most players, but nobody takes better care of his body than Carter. And having such an excellent veteran role model at that position wouldn't hurt, either. Crossing lots of fingers....

Andre Carter is a force on the field, and a very positive influence off of the field.. he would be an ideal "bridge player" for some of our young'uns.

If he's got something left, would love to have him back. Wouldn't mind even letting him come off the PUP midseason, more chance he'd be fresh and healthy for the playoffs.

PUP would be fine, as I have suggested on a couple of occasions.

FWIW, I went to a Revolution game in March and Carter's parking spot was still there. There have also been reports that he's been working with the team's medical staff during the off season.

I hope he returns. He'd be a great mentor for our young draft choices as well (Jones, Hightower and Bequette).

I never much doubted that he'd be back. It was really the Patriots or retirement, and let's face it, who wants to go out like that. If he was able to come back, he would and I knew it be back to the Pats.

That said, he'll probably be most useful in a mentor/in case of emergency, break glass type player. Hopefully he'll be able to be used situationally, where at this point in his career, he'll probably be most useful.

If he has something left? The dude had a double digit sack total, is in great shape and showed no signs of slowing down. Granted it's a tough injury, but if anything I'd rather have a DL (ecpsecially a dude with Carter's arms) have an upper body injury then a lower body. Carter should still be just as explosive off the edge, he might not be as strong as last year but he'll recover most of his upper body strength by the time he's back.

If he comes back I think people are way underselling him here. He's going to be a lot more effective than just some backup.

What?
The injury was a devastating LEG injury.

He was the best player on the defense last year.

Even in decline, he would make the defense better. Absent pass-rush explosion, he was excellent at the first point in a Belichick defense: set the edge, extend the run wast/west, control the pocket. At best, he could be the best pass-rush option.

Do we really know how serous the injury is?

I'm not trying to be difficult here, but I never saw details other than it was a ruptured quad injury(?). Shortly after the injury I recall a lot of board discussion about timeframes, etc..but I think these may have been educated guesses.

There are probably degrees of severity and subsequent recovery.

Maybe someone has a link...?

Pup sounds great, let him get into shape slowly and be fresh for the 2nd half of the season.

Not sure. I hate the idea of cutting someone to make room for Carter that we could be using 5 years from now, long after Carter retires.

Camp fodder and/or a PUP to come on in later due to injury or poor play.

Guy is a freak. He will deff be back IMO
