Jermichael Finley not completely sold on Gronkowski, Graham - NFL - Sporting News

Finley is good but nowhere near the level of Gronk and even Graham.

I smell jealousy here ...and besides Gronk nor Graham have to show Finley anything,Both Rob and Jimmy are heads and shoulders above all other TEs not named Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates.

Finley needs to LEARN more from these two young stars, not reversed...I don't even think he is as good as a healthy Hernandez to be honest.

I saw this article as well and just had to laugh.. Finley is a tool. He was an after-thought last year behind Graham and Gronkowski.

Finley is the one who has to show something for the money he's getting. 11 Drops isn't gonna cut it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gronk puts up an equal number of TDs on less receptions, but has over 1000 yards again.

HA, he's the one who has to prove himself, butterfingers.

Wow! Just Wow!

The Black Knight in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" was more grounded in reality than Finley.

He reminds me of a guy like David Boston who's a physical freak but has been cursed with crap hands.

I think if Gronk is 100% recovered from that ankle injury and plays all 16 RS games, there is not a chance that he won't get 1,000+ yards in receptions again.

I would not be surprised if he has more yardage than Welker or Lloyd

Really?

Finley in 4 seasons: 137 receptions for 1818 yards and 15 TDs

Gronk in 2 seasons: 132 receptions for 1873 yards and 27 TDs and 1 Rushing TD!

Graham in 2 seasons: 130 receptions for 1666 yards and 16 TDs

Are they not enough? Gronk has less receptions for more yards and almost double TDs!

Gronk and Graham had 2 of the best single season performances ever by TEs!

Hey Jermichael, shut up!

"Gronk has to show me more" - who does Finley think he is, Bibi Jones?

I don't know why both Gronk and Graham have to show Finley something when it's him that has to prove that he can be as productive as Gronk and Graham. I do agree with him saying that if both Gronk and Graham want to be truly considered 'great' they have to perform at a high level consistently.

In other news mark sanchez "wants to see more" from tom brady before he's convinced brady is as good as himself.

Hrm.. yup that sounds just as stupid as the original article.

Is Finley that full of himself, and/or that insecure? Who exactly is he to declare that anybody has to show him anything? All he succeeded in doing was making himself sound like a spoiled brat who is upset that he's not the center of attention.

Career stats - and keep in mind that Finley has been in the NFL for four years while the others have been in the league for just two.

  • Finley: 137 receptions; 1818 yards; 15 TD
  • Graham: 130 receptions; 1669 yards; 16 TD
  • Gronkowski: 132 receptions; 1875 yards; 28 TD
  • Hernandez: 124 receptions; 1565 yards; 13 TD

He had a few other gems in that interview also.

  • On his 11 drops last season, ranking in the top five in the NFL: “Catching comes second-nature to me. All I’ve got to do is focus a little bit more. I know I can catch the ball. I know I’m going to catch the ball this year — for sure I’m going to catch it. It’s focus."
  • On if the uncertainty of his contract situation played a role: “Not at all. It was just my play. I’m not blaming it on my offseason, but me and the QB didn’t have chemistry. The routes were off sometimes, and that’ll mess with your head when the ball comes. The contract didn’t bother me at all. Not one bit. Not one bit.”
  • On why he felt he was “a robot” last year: “I would say no offseason program. I couldn’t get the chemistry with the QB. And not (that I was) thinking about the injury, but every time somebody got around my legs, I was like, ‘Watch out.’ I was thinking about that next injury. I can say it was because of the injury (in 2010), for sure.”

Somehow this guy comes across as a player that would be a much better fit with a team like the Raiders or the Jets than a team and location like the Green Bay Packers.

his numbers may go down because of the prescence of lloyd and gaffney, but tha's a good thing.

"But in this league, you've got to do it consistently. If you've shown that you can do it one time, you have to come back and do it.

"They're going to have to show me something. I'm not trying to beat them or see what I can do better than them, but they're going to have to show me a little more."

He's right. Gronk and Graham had great years, but it takes more than just one season to really cement a player at the top of the heap. In the case of Graham and Gronk, I think we'll see them have great seasons again this year, and I think Finley will have seen "a little more".

I think Finley fits in with his egotistical QB in GB, where both of them are convinced they are the best at their position. Rodgers called out Skip Bayless, because Skip praised him and said he thought Brady was a better QB. Really? Does that make you a hater? Rodgers should wake up and smell the beans like Finley. Where they are all third best in their positions at the moment.

If Coby Fleener comes as advertized and especially already well in sync with Luck in College,Finley might have another young player to talk about

Rodgers has said himself that TFB is 'far and away' the best in the league, he also said he was lucky to play golf with him and thought it was a pleasure, Rodgers has done nothing but praise Brady.

Unbelievable... and then he goes on to make excuses for his play last year... I can't even find a way to interpret this that doesn't make him sound like a jealous idiot.

Well, Gronk and Graham have each had 1 good, though not amazing, rookie season, followed by sophomore seasons for the history books. Now, if Gronk was playing on any team other than the Patriots, we'd all be saying "I need to see another big year before crowning this guy".

That's pretty much what Finley seems to be saying.
