1976 Patriots radio highlights album available on CD

I figure that some oldtimers like me might have an interest in this

Stumbled across this today -- turns out that the 1976 season radio highlights album is available on CD:

Fleetwood Sounds - The Spirited Patriots of 76

(And there are some 60s-early 1980s Bruins and Celtics albums there as well).

My brother & I bought that album when it was released during the off-season in 1977.

We also had the "Impossible Dream" album of the 1967 Red Sox, and "Goal: Bruins" from the 1969-70 season.
Unfortunately, I think that those albums, among others, were destroyed in a fire at the apartment complex
where my brother was living some years ago. I'll have to ask him about them now.

Wonder who was making the calls back then. Probably not Gil but maybe Gino as the color commentator ? 1976 was my favorite non Super Bowl season. My second season as a Patriot's fan.

Will have a hard time with the changing of the guard, seems as though I have been listening to this duo forever... Gil has been in the booth, for th emost part, since 1966.

Would like to see a Troy Brown or Tedy Bruschi doing play by play.. really learning to like Troy.

Zolak is growing on me, but not enough to completely take over this responsibility..

Gil had some health problems last winter, some serious pneumonia issues.

AH 1976 - Good year. That was the year I proposed to my wife on the Banks of the Charles along with about a million of our closest friends at bicentennial concert on the fourth of July. It was the year I left the Catholic Conference to coach in the Suburban League , That was the year the Pats had a turn around year that rivaled the 2001 season, leading to the screw job in Oakland. The Celtics beat Phoenix for NBA Title Jim Rice and Fred Lynn were still in the minors, and the Sox finished 3rd in ALEast .....and I bought my first house. A 2 family in Somerville for $34,000. I remember that number because to this day I refuse to buy a car that costs more than my first house.

Captain, that "Impossible Dream" album probably out sold the Beatles when it came out after the that 67 season. It was really the year the fascination with the Sox was born, Prior to that you could go to any game, pay 75 cents for unreserved grand stand and be sitting in a box seat by the 5th inning.

actually lynn won rookie of the year and mvp in 75 and played in the world series against the reds. rice finished second in roy and 3rd in mvp but got hit by a pitch and broke his wrist right before the playoffs. sox get hosed again . went to that raider game. sad day.

I love history, having been a history major in college. I love sports history as well. Especially Pats history. Though us oldtimers love to relive history, this oldtimer loves tech stuff of the present, and I'm going to buy this CD, copy it to iTunes, and then put it on my iPhone.

When all my friends who are Raider fans bring up the "Tuck Rule", I bring up the game that season where we got screwed by a bogus roughing the passer call. It wasn't just that call, but the three bad calls in the Patriots previous possession. Then I bring up the "Holy Roller" in SD. They don't want to hear about how many times they have benefitted from bad calls. Bunch of cry babies. The Refs did make a mistake on the "Tuck rule" game. After careful review the defender hit the QB on the back of the helmet and Oakland should have been penalized 15 yds.

Remember the triple-OT game 5? I stayed awake for all of it, then had to go school the following morning (Saturday) to take my PSATs. Needless to say, there were a lot of sleepy-eyed students trying to read their exam booklets.

And if you happened to detect the sweet aroma of the ganja at that July 4th Pops concert, that might have originated from my buds & me. I had never seen so many people at one place in my life.
