Walker (ESPN): Patriots will struggle in Post-Brady Era

His problem is he acts as if they won't have any kind of transitional plans in place, won't have the draft or FA to facilitate those, and all the other teams will suddenly start succeeding as a result.

I think the larger ESPN group analysis done along these lines came to a very different conclusion - particularly as to timing. They have us still in the top 3 in 2015...in part because all things being equal they assume both Brady and Belichick will still be here and continuing to functioning at an above average level.

The initial comments on his article were priceless...

Where did you read they placed Pats in the top 3 in 2015?

You don't subscribe to the online ESPN insider,do you?

is he trying to channel his inner Nostradamus ?

As long as the Krafts own the organization we will be in a position to win.

OK, I guess it's time for my earth shaking prediction.

The Colts will struggle without Peyton Manning.

and Brady and coach Bill Belichick recently became the winningest quarterback-coach combo in NFL history.
But all of that comes to an end when Brady retires.

This really bothers me. Nobody told me Brady and Bills records will cease to accumulate after they have retired. Don't they have some kind of "Records annuity" where the interest will compile in some way???

This just in:

Cars don't run as well without the tires.

Remember how when Brady got hurt and we struggled to an 11-5 record. I think many organizations would take that struggle in a heartbeat.

Re: ESPN: The Pats Will Struggle in the Post Brady Era

The article seems to be a combination of stating the obvious (the Pats won't likely have a QB as good as Brady after Brady is done; BB won't coach forever) and the ridiculous ("the offense is old" - who knows what it will look like in 3-5 years?)
:yawn2:
Well, according to his way of thinking, since the average age of WRs in OTAs today was about 31, then in 5 years the average age of our WRs will be 36.

Plus imagine how old our OLine will be. Vince will be about 36 and Gerard Warren will be about 40. Our DLine will obviously suffer.

:yawn2: indeed

The Pats will struggle after losing the greatest QB of all time? Wow, way to reach there buddy.

Sometimes when speculating the future, people only need to look at the past. Let's not forget that not once but TWICE under the Belichick regime, the Patriots LOST their franchise quarterback in the first two games of the season.

They lost Bledsoe in 2001 and Brady in 2008. All they did was go 11-5 in BOTH seasons including a SUPER BOWL WIN!

Lets face it..the next QB after Brady won't be on his level...who knows what the O will be like without him

How can you not be concerned about the 2017 Patriots, given that they currently have NOBODY under contract!

:bricks:

Not to mention that the 2047 Patriots have no potential players who are even born yet!

So....... You're saying there's a chance?

Hmmmmmm........The Patriots will struggle when they have to replace the greatest QB that ever played the game? Thanks Captain Obvious.

they can't write anything negative about the pats for this upcoming year so they have to write about the future and speculate that they'll struggle ? talk about small minded. who pays for that trash ?

Looking forward to the follow up column: "In 2017, the Jets will still suck." At least that angle will make sense.
