Early Patriots 53 Man Roster Projection
By: Steve Balestrieri

There is an initial projection of the 53 man roster, this will change when the players hit the field and the inevitable injuries occur. But this team will be much deeper this season especially on defense and at wide receiver....

This is really light on the interior line, and especially light on interior line youth. The four guys there will be 30, 35, 30, and 32 on opening day. I think Wendell (26) and McDonald (25) both stick, and I'm pretty sure at least one will.

Wide Receiver-
Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Donte’ Stallworth, Jabar Gaffney, Matthew Slater, Julian Edelman

I'm actually disappointed at the look of this core. I would love it if Stallworth was replaced with Branch and Ocho (hopefully supplanting a position elsewhere).

Wait, when was Waters resigned?? I must have missed it..

Where's Koppen? Put him in there instead of Kopa. And, I'd rather have a 9th ol than Addai. Prob Wendell. No idea about wr battle. But, 6 seems like the right number. Only 5 DL? Give me M. Pryor over Tarpinian. And, I'd rather have Ihedigbo9assume we sign) as the 4th safety than White at lb. Tavon Wilson and Dennard will play ST. That negates the need to have Tarp/White. Would like Andre Carter over T. Scott too.

Interesting roster projection. Stallworth over Branch at WR is sure to raise some eyebrows. I'd like to find a way to fit a 9th OL on the squad too (e.g., Wendell or McDonald), though I'm not sure where to make room for that spot.

On defense I'd like to see another DL such as Pryor but again I'm not sure who to remove to make room for him; Tarpinian perhaps? And considering who the Pats have on the 90-man roster at safety I wouldn't mind one of the corners being converted to safety this off-season; I do like that idea.

When doing these roster projections I wonder if I'm discounting the undrafted free agents too much? So far I've got them mostly penciled in as cuts that will hopefully clear waivers and end up on the practice squad, but perhaps one or two of them will show enough to make the roster.

He did pretty well only 4 things I'd change-
1. Put in Branch instead of Stallworth.
2. Make a scenario to resign Carter and have Trevor Scott, Markell Carter, and Jermaine Cunningham fight for the other spot.
3. Fiammetta instead of Larsen.
4. Put in Koppen instead of someone else.
