Just speculation, but Jones just tweeted this:

Ahhh just got the best news I've ever received in my entire life!!! You all will be finding out pretty soon!!!

Could it be a contract?

Ebert & Dennard are both in airports heading to Boston too - are there mini camps coming up this week?

Both of them might be looking at contracts this week too as well.

Players have been signing with other teams, including 1st round picks (Bruce Irvin at 15, Melvin Ingram at 18). With the rookie salary scale it's pretty much automatic. And Floyd Reese has been tremendous with contracts in general the past few years.

He just tweeted that the news is he is moving to Mass!

Well I am sure it isn't far off!

So he's moving out of New York.

No wonder he's excited.

Mini camp for the rookies takes place from May 10-12. There are
also organized team activities May 21, 22, 24, 29, 30, 31 and June
4, 5, 7, 8. The veterans come in on June 12-14.

For the most part these guys can all be signed in a day now with few exceptions and that mostly deals with structural preferences. It's in everyone's long and short term interest to get the rookies settled in and assimilating and exposed to organizational oversight and mentoring all off season as opposed to out there living in their mom's basements until they see some actual cash or on endorsement spending benders away from the influence of their veteran teamates.

Do you know if we will get reports from the camps like the Jets had last week?

Well if you mean "Will there be media there reporting on the events?", then I think the answer is "Yes!"

If you mean "Will we hear reports that BB pulled Jones and Hightower out of the drills since they are already going to be starters and BB wants to see some of the lesser profile players trying to make the team; like Sexy Rexy did?", then the answer to THAT one is "absolutely not!"; BB doesn't hand starting jobs to players, they have to earn it.

I believe that I read somewhere that the press will be at the May
12th practice and at some of the organized team activities.

At this point it'll be fun just to see pics of the new guys in Patriots gear, even just practice duds. Not really expecting anything more.

I thought I had missed rookie camp.. glad I am wrong, hate when that happens.

Was too embarassed to ask if it already happened..

I've been upset not seeing the official list of UDFAs from the Patriot's
front office. Only three teams have not confirmed their UDFAs.

Just read on Mike Reiss' blog there will be press access on both
May 11th and12th.

Since unsigned rookies now count against the roster limit, there is no reason to wait to get them signed. Expect Pats to sign the rookies soon, just like what most other teams have been doing.

We drafted Chandler Jones... not Antonio Cromartie.

New England Patriots have agreed to a terms with rookie second-round safety Tavon Wilson on a four-year, $4.217 million contract that includes a $1.507 million signing bonus, according to a league source.

The first two years of the deal, $390,000 and $581,722, are fully guaranteed and the last two years, $773,444 and $965,166, aren't fully guaranteed.

First domino to fall. Rookie cap hit will be about $767K.

Florio suggests that the issue of whether the rookie contract is fully ensured could hold up signings in the 21-25 range:

Though there’s not all that much to negotiate when it comes to first-round contracts, one potential sticking point comes from the extent to which the money is fully guaranteed for all four years. In 2011, the first 20 picks received four-year, fully-guaranteed contracts. Three-year guarantees applied as of the 22nd pick, Colts lineman Anthony Castonzo. At pick 21, the Browns and defensive lineman Phil Taylor worked out a compromise that would make his fourth-year income guaranteed or put him on the open market early in the league year, giving him an extended opportunity to make the money with a new team.

In 2012, picks in the range of 21 to 25 could take some extra time, as agents try to pull the four-year guarantee deeper into the round — or, at a minimum, to slide the formula that the Browns used when negotiating Taylor’s deal to lower selections.

Making things even more interesting is the fact that the Patriots, who have been known to drive a hard bargain with first-round picks (just ask Ben Watson), hold spot No. 21, for which they traded up used to select defensive end Chandler Jones. Also, the Browns devoted pick No. 22 to a quarterback, Brandon Weeden, who may be able to get the same deal one spot lower that Taylor got last year with the 21st pick, especially by pointing to the loose notion that quarterbacks deserve a better deal that non-quarterbacks taken at the same spot. Then the question becomes whether the players taken with picks 23 (Riley Reiff of the Lions), 24 (David DeCastro of the Steelers), and 25 (Dont’a Hightower of the Patriots) will be able to yank the Taylor/Weeden formula deeper into the round. Chances are the Patriots won’t go for it at No. 25, which would set the floor on the three-year guarantee. That leaves Reiff and DeCastro to possibly wait it out. Possibly past the Fourth of July.
