Interesting AFC QB rankings

Well, at least he's brave enough to go out on a limb with THIS controversial final analysis:

"By the end of the 2012 season, I expect that some quarterbacks to be successful, while other teams will be looking to sign or draft a new quarterback next offseason"

HE'S LIKE NOSTRODAMUS!

Joe Flacco is Trbl (as Charles Barclay would say)

How is Flacco ranked higher than Manning, Rivers, and Roethlisberger?

What exactly does Flacco do to deserve anyone's respect? The guy throws for about a 55% completion rate and is horrendous against good defenses. He is the biggest jeckyll and hyde QB in the league, padding his stats against garbage teams and faltering against good ones.

1. Brady
2. Rivers (who was ahead of Manning even before 18s injury)
3. Roethlisberger
4. Manning (with all due respect, age and injuries raise questions.)
5. Schaub
6. Flacco
7. Dalton

Dead Last (tie). edit:Sanbow.

Kinda like Billary, ya get 2 fer one!

First of all, this is written by some guy with a blog, so I think we have to take it with a grain of salt and not like it's by somebody with the credentials to command our attention.

Putting Joe Flacco above Big Ben is kind of silly, as others have pointed out, suggesting that Flacco's PR person was servicing the author's carnal desires.

I don't see how Cassel gets put that high either.

I kind of respect Peyton to the point that I'd put him number two with an asterisk and the obvious disclaimer.

I have no problem with Philip Rivers being towards the middle of the list, for the reasons that the author offers. While it's hard to disrespect his play in games that don't mean a lot, he has just never been able to get the job done when a season or a playoff game was on the line.

The rest are just a matter of shuffling the deck chairs on a lot of sinking ships.

1.) Roethlisberger > Rivers > Flacco
2.) Manning shouldn't even be listed because he's coming off a missed year and is now at the age of 36.
3.) Palmer > Sanchez

Heading into this season, I'd list them (Best to worst) like this:

Brady
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Schaub
Flacco
Fitzpatrick
Dalton
Cassel (Until he shows that 2011 was the fluke, and not 2010)
Hasselbeck (assuming Locker doesn't become the starter)
Palmer
Sanchez (Unless/Until Tebow takes over)
Gabbert

INC: Manning, Luck, Tannehill, Weedon

IMO, P. Manning has earned the number two spot with an asterisk and the appropriate disclaimer until he proves otherwise.

Why? He wasn't even the second best AFC QB the last season he played.

Why? He wasn't even the second best AFC QB the last season he played.

He was playing with a depleted offense and virtually no defense and the bad neck that sidelined him last year didn't happen overnight or on one play.

By virtue of his stats and body of work and taking him at his word that he has returned to good health and his old form, he deserves to be called second to TB and better than the other guys on that list, even Big Ben, until proven otherwise; I'll be the first to say otherwise if he stinks up the joint in the first few weeks of the season.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :singing:

Manning was injured during that season, but the Colts still made the postseason.

I, for one, expect Manning to be completely fine . . .

. . . until he starts playing outdoor games at Mile High in December.

He got #1 right. After that, it went off the rails.

No kidding. How does Joe Flacco rank ahead of Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning?

I get that Manning is old, played most of his career under roof, has been away from the game for a year, has questionable head mobility, has a massive frying pan of a forehead that acts like a main sail when the wind kicks up at Mile High, and is on a new new team that plays at altitude....oops, I guess i answered my own question.

Probably written by a Ravens homer. They really, truly believe that Flacco will one day be better than Brady. I saw a thread about it on their message board last year. He has "better physical tools" and will develop to be a better QB because he is tougher, etc. It was probably the most laughable discussion I've ever read, with very few interjecting with any sense.

Manning behind Cassel and Flacco? That's non-sense. I also woul put Flacco behind Rivers

Final Analysis
By the end of the 2012 season, I expect that some quarterbacks to be successful, while other teams will be looking to sign or draft a new quarterback next offseason.

Bold prediction!

No way in hell does a player who hasn't been at the #2 QB spot for 2+ seasons, and is coming off a lost year and major injury, deserve to be placed at that #2 spot.
