I think we will be able to get many more YPC than 2011 due the the more diverse defense, and the running game I think will be significantly better. Shane Vereen, Stevan Ridley, Brandon Bolden, Danny Woodhead. Short dump offs to RB's are not as hard on the arm, I expect 50 of those spread between the RB's at least, most going to Vereen and Woodhead. I think that Mallet/Hoyer could be put in in the 4th quarter for talent evaluation, because why play Brady when you are up by 20 points? I could see Brady throwing for 4800-5200 yards, Mallet 800-1200 yards, and Hoyer 400-600 yards.

6500 yards? Sorry, that is ridiculous.

I would not rule out around 6000, about 375 yards a game. 300ish for Brady and 75 for Hoyer/Mallet

That is almost 20% more than the record before last year.
You expect Brady to throw for 4800 and sit enough for backups to throw for 1200?
I would imagine the backups would have to play more than 1/3 of the game time to do that. assuming we don't have a big lead and they come in to hand off. So Brady is the equivalent of 7200 yards playing 60 minutes, in your estimation.
Seriously, you are out of touch with reality.
Aside from 2008, Bradys backups probably haven't COMBINED for 1200 yards in all the years he has been here.

Brady could throw for 100 yards per quarter, sit the entire 4th quarter with backups playing throwing for 75 yards in the 4th quarter. Instead of running down the clock at the end of blowouts let the backups show what they can do that's all I'm saying.

Screw 2007. That team blew the doors open on the NFL for about 10 games and coasted on fumes the rest of the way. They couldn't finish the job. And as others stated, Brady having to throw enough to break his own personal record from last season is a terrible thing. Give me a balanced offense that doesn't have a "blueprint" to be beat.

Everyone in that "band" is also five years older. And a couple are post major injuries.

I think people underestimate the effect of moss on that team. Plus the offensive line has had issues since then too in big games and now with light out and changes on the line its hard to predict how it turns out. Not to mention our division teams are far tougher now than in 2007.Also that team really escaped the injury bug most of the season. That is a huge factor for every team.

Interesting. The final results are relitively close, with 26 voting "yes" or "possibly", and 29 "probably not" or "no chance" votes.

That means that if Brady played full time he would throw for 6400 yards. That is ridiculous. No one has ever come close to 100 yards a quarter.
You are also saying that our backups would throw for the equivalent of 4800 yards. That means our backup QB would be so productive that if we played them all 4 quarters they would rank 10th all time in NFL history and fall just 6 yards short of 2007 Tom Brady.
I think you need to reconsider this one.

Before 07, throwing 50 TDs and 8 INTs would have been considered rediculous.

But 6500 yards is the equvialent of 63 TDs and 5 Ints
And I'm not sure how ridiculous 50 was when the record was already 49.

The back up QBs would be fresh, and the defense will be tired out, I doubt they could put up numbers like that if they were playing full time, and if Brady played full time they would start to run out the clock. With the offensive weapons this year 100 yards per quarter is not unreasonable, against Miami and San Diego they averaged over 100 yards per quarter, for Miami week one it was over 125 yards per quarter, and several games had the Pats total passing yards in the high 300s as well, with Lloyd added the offense should pass for even more yard by increasing YPC.

The best ever is just over 5200 yards in 64 quarters.
You are asking Brady to exceed the best ever in the history of the game by about 23%, and then a backup who has never played come in and play at a level few ever have, because the defense is tired? Defenses were just as tired in all the other 4th quarters in NFL history.
There simply is no chance.

Too many variables to really be able to predict. The 2012 offense could be markedly better, but just call the dogs off earlier and fall short of the point total.
Lets hope they out score the 2007 Game 19 offense in Game 19.

Outgunning opponents isn't going to earn you a title. It might make for some good stats and regular season win totals, but eventually your offense won't be so invincible and that's that. Sustaining possessions, getting off the field on D, and making plays in the clutch will get you the wins that matter. Let's hope last year's experience and this offseason's additions in areas that needed upgrades makes this year's team more capable of accomplishing that. Couldn't care less about points and stats anymore

The offense will be good no matter. I hope they make a run at the 03 team's 238 points allowed.

Just to put it into perspective. If Brady averaged 350 yards passing per game for 16 games, that would yield 5600 total yards. That's pretty crazy. I know Tom Terrific just cracked 5k. But getting more than 5.6k I think is very very difficult. No less, 6k. Then again anything's possible.

From this century alone, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, New England, and New Orleans all are wondering what you're talking about...

There's only one statistics that matters with this team, winning the Superbowl this season. I don't care for any other records than Lombardi number IV for Brady.

Not sure exactly what that refers to. But no team wins super bowls by relying on being able to score 35+ points in consecutive games against 3-4 straight quality teams. NO is the only one that came close, 1 was an OT game and 1 was aided by a pick 6 of Manning. If anything bringing up NO solidifies my point. They were known as an offensive juggernaut primarily, but they beat Indy by limiting their possessions, not by trying to outgun them.

The Saints beat the Colts by putting up 31 points. Obviously the best of all worlds is a solid offense and a solid defense, but statistical history shows us that it's a lot easier to win the Super Bowl despite giving up more than 3 touchdowns than it is to win it when scoring 17 points or fewer yourself. Furthermore, only one Super Bowl winner has ever scored fewer than 16 points (72 Dolphins), but Super Bowl losers have scored more than 25 points 3 times.
