Nice.

I think I'd respectfully disagree with the following: (not that I could necessarily do a better job ;) )

--lack of Tracy White, although it's certainly a possibility that Carpenter could take over his spot, depending upon his quick pickup of the system and ST play in training camp

--You have Chung lumped in with the FS group, and while we're all aware that (say it with me in unison) "there are no SS/FS groupings in N.England," Chung is definitely closer to a SS. I'd switch up Gregory and Chung.

--No way we're only keeping 3 'real' safeties. Add in Barrett or even Brown, with the possibility of a late season addition.

--Don't see Cole making the CB grouping over Will Allen, but anything's possible.

--Not sure if Carpenter makes it, but if he does, will he be an OLB instead of an ILB? I was leaning more towards ILB myself, but it's getting crowded in there.

--Not expecting Forston to make it at all, change that one to G.Warren.

--No way we're only keeping 3 RB's, at least 4 and probably 5.

--Oddly enough (IMO) they seem to be wanting Gallery as a possible T instead of a G here, which I was surprised at.

------------------

This thing is fun though, and as much as some of the opinions will differ, it's a neat application.

I still think it's waaaayyy too early yet, but maybe I'll give one a try myself, and you can tell me your thoughts.

lack of Tracy White, although it's certainly a possibility that Carpenter could take over his spot, depending upon his quick pickup of the system and ST play in training camp

Yeah I went with Carpenter over White, he's a slightly better LB and a good ST'er from what I recall.

l--You have Chung lumped in with the FS group, and while we're all aware that (say it with me in unison) "there are no SS/FS groupings in N.England," Chung is definitely closer to a SS. I'd switch up Gregory and Chung.

I thought that too, but the picker has them that way round and I just forgot to change them like I did with Carter (who was down as an ILB, and will be a DE in the 4-3 probably anyway so OLB is wrong by me :p)

--No way we're only keeping 3 'real' safeties. Add in Barrett or even Brown, with the possibility of a late season addition.

Yeah there's either going to be another signing, Josh Barrett or one of the corners converted there (maybe Dennard).

--Don't see Cole making the CB grouping over Will Allen, but anything's possible.

Cole is an excellent ST'er and according to some Jets fans a good #4 corner too.

--Not sure if Carpenter makes it, but if he does, will he be an OLB instead of an ILB? I was leaning more towards ILB myself, but it's getting crowded in there.

3-4 ILB, 4-3 OLB? It's another that the picker had arranged that way.

--Not expecting Forston to make it at all, change that one to G.Warren.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Warren on the shadow roster like last season.

--No way we're only keeping 3 RB's, at least 4 and probably 5.

That's where it got hard, it was take less RB's or find WR's to cut....glad I don't have to make that call for real  (Bolden will probably land on the PS too)

It's a fun thing to do though, I'll probably be having another go as camp goes on and after pre-season games etc.

Now....ST ONLY PLAYERS...Hmm?

-------------

My guess would be that as of now, we have the following as possible ST-only players: Tarpinian, Brown, Edelman.

QB (3) Tom Brady, Ryan Mallet, Brian Hoyer
RB (3) Danny Woodhead, Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen
WR (7) Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Deion Branch, Chad Ochocinco, Julian Edelman, Jabar Gaffney, Matthew Slater

C (1) Dan Koppen
G (5) Logan Mankins, Brian Waters, Dan Connolly, Nick McDonald, Robert Gallery
T (3) Sebastian Vollmer, Nate Solder, Marcus Cannon
DE (6) Jake Bequette, Brandon Deaderick, Jonathan Fanene, Ron Brace, Trevor Scott, Chandler Jones
DT (3) Vince Wilfork, Kyle Love, Myron Pryor

OLB(2) Jermaine Cunningham, Rob Ninkovich
CB (6) Ras-I Dowling, Alfonzo Dennard, Kyle Arrington, Will Allen, Sterling Moore, Devin McCourty
SS (1) Steve Gregory
FS (2) Patrick Chung, Tavon Wilson
ST (3) Zoltan Mesko, Danny Aiken, Stephen Gostkowski

Total players: 53

This was mine. i am secretly hoping we trade Hoyer for a pick next year leaving me able to pick up Tracy white or something. I was going to pick Tarpinian but ended up picking white instead. I am hoping Tavon Wilson/Gregory can pick up some of the St duties of the people they replaced, same with Denard. Edleman is basically a pure special teamer and patch work WR/CB now so he better be working on his tackling. I opted to go for Fells over an extra RB as using Hernandez at rb last year proved very dangerous, this also gives us a bit more flexibility and hopefully faulk will be on our shadow roster and the navy kid can be in the practice squad

You're right, and I sent my comments before I looked at how the picker had the players/positions arranged, so that's my bad on that one.

Certainly didn't mean to nitpick your selections (although I don't imagine that you took it that way, at least I hope not), especially after seeing some of the intense competition.

I didn't have White on mine either, and I don't have any more than 4 RB's...it's almost impossible to determine.

I know one thing, there's going to be some SERIOUS competition and shrewd roster moves this TC.

And that's a great thing!!!

Terrific app much better than my spreadsheet. I added A Carter, G Warren and K Faulk to the roster. Assumptions A Carter & Mankins start season on PUP. Hoyer traded during camp.

QB (2) Tom Brady, Ryan Mallet
RB (5) Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Danny Woodhead, Spencer Larsen, Brandon Bolden
WR (6) Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Matthew Slater, Jabar Gaffney, Donte Stallworth, Brandon Lloyd
TE (3) Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Daniel Fells
C (3) Dan Connolly, Dan Koppen, Ryan Wendell
G (3) Brian Waters, Robert Gallery, Nick McDonald
T (3) Sebastian Vollmer, Nate Solder, Marcus Cannon
DE (4) Brandon Deaderick, Jonathan Fanene, Chandler Jones, Jake Bequette
DT (4) Vince Wilfork, Kyle Love, Myron Pryor, Gerald Warren
ILB(4) Jerod Mayo, Brandon Spikes, Donta Hightower, Dane Fletcher
OLB(4) Rob Ninkovich, Trevor Scott, Jermaine Cunningham, Markell Carter
CB (5) Ras-I Dowling, Sterling Moore, Kyle Arrington, Alfonzo Dennard, Marquice Cole
SS (2) Devin McCourty, Steve Gregory
FS (2) Patrick Chung, Tavon Wilson
ST (3) Danny Aiken, Zoltan Mesko, Stephen Gostkowski

PS players: Hartline, Forston, Zuevics, Kettani, Ebert, Ebner, Hix or Tarpinian

Projections comeback by Cunningham, M Carter steps up (White is very tough cut here) and Bolden is the UDFA who makes the roster this year.

Lots of tough cuts inc Branch who loses close battle to Stallworth, will not be surprised if this goes the other way. Even losing guys to IR during camp this is a very deep roster, defered to younger players for game day inactives

Yeah I didn't take it that way, this thread will create discussion over peoples rosters.

It's hard for us to decide on a final roster, just think how hard it will be for BB & co, finding the right balance is really hard....do you carry an extra RB or WR etc.

I'm hoping that Hoyer isn't traded, at least not 'yet' anyway.

We need him here for one more season, or at least until Mallet it ready enough + familar enough to carry the team in case of emergency.

Hoyer has way more value to us than what we'd get for him, which would be nothing more than a low round pick, with a mid-round pick (4th or so) being the highest choice. It's just not worth it in my opinion. He's been here long enough to run the offense, should Brady go down for 3-4 games.

But I do respect the choice.

-I had Ochocinco make it over Branch because it's a **** move to cut someone after they restructure. Nobody would ever restructure unless it meant his job would be secure.
-Mankins is on the PUP list.
-I'm assuming a 4-3 for now until there's some evidence they go back 3-4 base.
-Tarpinian makes it over White because of his age.
-Ebner gets the fourth safety spot for ST.

this came down to Brace v. Cunningham for me, I went with brace just because I think it's a bigger position of need/less competition

My projection is that Mallett is going to pass Hoyer during camp as the #2, in that case the roster spot is very valuable and Hartline can go the the PS as the developmental QB.

If Mallett emerges as the #2 and Hoyer will leave next year very little value there relative to not having to cut a young player at another position. Of course injuries during camp changes everything.

Of course Cunningham and M Carter probably don't make the majority of rosters but...

Glad I can just enjoythe season and don't have to make the real decisions

I think if Mallet overtakes Hoyer it's a good indication that they are going to try and trade Mallet at some point by driving up his perceived value and then make Hoyer easier to re-sign.

If Hoyer is our number 2 all year then it ups the chance that he gets offered more money at the end of the year than the pats are going to want to give him and we'll stick with Mallet as our backup and future. Or they could realize that and just not have a depth chart at the position (at least not a public one).

I don't know though....It's kind of a 1st world problem.

After my debacle trying to pick the draft, I should be banned from predictions. But here goes:

QB (3) Tom Brady, Ryan Mallet, Brian Hoyer
RB (4) Danny Woodhead, Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Spencer Larsen
WR (6) Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Aaron Hernandez, Matthew Slater, Julian Edelman, Jabar Gaffney
TE (2) Rob Gronkowski, Daniel Fells
C (2) Dan Koppen, Ryan Wendell
G (4) Logan Mankins, Brian Waters, Dan Connolly, Robert Gallery

ILB(3) Brandon Spikes, Tracy White, Dane Fletcher
OLB(5) Markell Carter, Donta Hightower, Jerod Mayo, Bobby Carpenter, Rob Ninkovich
CB (6) Ras-I Dowling, Devin McCourty, Kyle Arrington, Alfonzo Dennard, Will Allen, Sterling Moore
FS (2) Steve Gregory, Tavon Wilson
SS (2) Patrick Chung, Sergio Brown
ST (3) Zoltan Mesko, Danny Aiken, Stephen Gostkowski

Thoughts:

- I wouldn't rule out movement at QB. Perhaps a camp injury leads a team to give up a 3rd for Hoyer.
- Spencer Larson makes the team only if we don't sign another committee RB.
- Light on WRs, as I treat Hernandez as a WR. If Welker holds out, then Branch makes it.
- Wendell could be a surprise cut, if Gallery and McDonald play well.

- Brace might be one of the 'last cuts'. I forsee him making it after an injury (which hopefully means an injury-free offseason)
- Bobby Carpenter is last man in. He's in because of willingness to play STs and versatility.
- Brown makes it as purely a ST leader, not a S.
- I think BB has learned that he needs a designated long snapper.
