This game is going to be an epic battle that comes down to execution because both teams are so evenly matched. In years past the Patriots have come up with different schemes to stifle Peyton Manning. The one constant in the Patriots' schemes is an ability to take away the big play from Manning. That is always the primary focus in stopping the Indianapolis offense. The Patriots constantly change their looks and keep pressure on Manning, negating his ability to take advantage of mismatches down field.

On the flip side the Colts have a distinct advantage playing in the RCA Dome because of Dwight Freeney's presence. His speed and ability is going to be a major factor in this game. He has the ability to stay in Tom Brady's face and force him into poor throws much like the Chargers did in the divisional round. But unlike the Chargers, the Colts aren't going to negate those positive gains with poor play.

Key Matchup: Colts' WRs vs. Patriots' DBs
The trio of Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark provides a mismatch against just about any secondary in the league. This week's matchup against the Patriots definitely favors the Colts. In the playoffs, Indianapolis' opponents have rolled their safeties over the top of Harrison and Wayne, limiting their production for the most part, but this usually leaves Clark matched up against a linebacker and Clark has been taking full advantage. Peyton Manning has become extremely patient as a quarterback. He will expose whatever a defense is willing to give him. Manning hasn't played his best football in these playoffs, but has to be excited about this matchup. When these teams met in Foxboro in Week 9, Harrison had 145 yards receiving, Wayne had 90 and Clark pitched in with 42. Also, since the game is at home in a dome, weather will not be an issue for the Colts' passing game.

Obviously every team would prefer to play at home but Freeney has had a bad year. He had 5.5 sacks this season and 3 of those came in 1 game. He had 2 sacks against the Chiefs in the playoffs and none last week. So he has 7.5 sacks in 15 games this year (he missed 1 game early). In the earlier game against the Pats he had no sacks. Last week it was Merriman was going to eat Brady alive and now it is Freeney.

The key matchup they ignore is the Colts undersized defensive line vs the Pats OL. The Pats really minimized San Diego's fierce "61 sack" pass rush that everyone was hyping. You don't think they'll run right over the Colts when they want to and pass protect adequately when they have to?

Humm smacks of shallow journalistic analysis to me, but that's often the case. Mediots or more interested in giving "sound bites" than "sound analysis".

As usual, and as someone posted before the last game, it generally comes down to turnovers.

For all the talk about dances, LT, lucky plays, and the like, in the end, it kind of came down to turnovers. Each team had 3, but theirs were most costly. (Actually, they technically had 4, but one of them was on a play where they went for it on 4th down, so it would have been a turnover on downs anyway.)

We stiffened up on defense after their one turnover in our territory, and we ended up getting a field goal after their one turnover in our territory. In the end, there were 3 points scored off turnovers in the game and that was the margin.

I just stopped listening to all those shows in the past couple years. I don't watch pre-game, post-game, Total Access, the HBO show, NFL Live, etc. I even let go of the highlight show with Chris Berman. I only read journalists if someone cuts and pastes something in here. I almost never click a link. I just can't listen to any more of their drivel. If the Patriots were still the lovable losers they once were, I'd probably still be listening to these guys. This Dynasty has set me free!

The collective intelligence of this group is far more entertaining and knowledgable than talking heads.

The good thing is though, that the Pats still pay attention to what people are saying about them, especially when it come from the so-called "experts". Tomlinson calling them classless, now "experts" saying, "They're playing with house money," ...it's only good for us when these doubters open their months. Motivation. That's what it's all about.

The only reason I tuen into the pre game is to get to the Direct TV guide to push record on the DVR/Tivo for the game....Then I walk out of the room and do more productive and important things like pick out my belly button lint until game time.
