You Should Watch Bruschi Destroy The Spygate Haters

I like the sentiment, but I do wish that either/both of them had been a little more articulate in explaining why they both agree that Spygate didn't give a competitive advantage. That's the perspective that nobody outside of New England understands/cares about.

I didn't insult anybody, I simply made a point. If I was just a troll I'd have been banned by now.

You should have been banned by now, so I dunno if you should be using that as the centerpiece of your argument. In any case, could you please tell me exactly how many consecutive games your team has to lose before you'll conclude that they do, in fact, suck? I'd like to keep count.

Explain how they cheated. Go.

Ahh that's easy

The quy videotaping on the Jets sideline filmed the hand signals ...
Then he quickly ran from the sidelines around the end zone and to the Patriots bench ..

They hooked it up to a laptop with SPY decoder software and decoded the hand signals ...

Then they called up to the defensive coordinator who relayed the formation into Brady's headset.

SIMPLE

I think that Mangini blew a golden opportunity to set things right with the Patriot Nation. All he had to do was say that they were also filming the Patriot's coaches. It is a known fact that the Patriots stopped a Jets employee from taping during the playoffs the previous year. If Mangini came clean and admitted that they were doing the same thing, I think that most Patriot fans would let by gones be by gones. Matt Walsh (another rat) even admitted that he and the Jets videotaping guy would stand side by side and point at each others sideline.

You know what I feel is a little odd about all this. ESPN, the NFL....... Pretty much all involved seem to be dedicating MORE time then I have see to date on the rebuttal of the spygate stuff then on the original dumb quotes.

Lets face it. Had Harbone just made the comments, it would have died down in about 20 minutes and he just would have been "another" voice among the haters (there have been so many over the years). This time seems a little different. His "apology" got more airtime then his original comments.

Bruschi and Mangini basically are given a solo infomercial-style Platform for which to basically say 1) I regret what I did, 2) Our trophies aren't tainted. Now we all know, and HAVE known for since this all started that this is the truth, but I have NEVER seen so much time dedicated to letting the "Patriots" story out. It seems that, outside the typical haters on ESPN, more people are downplaying these stories like they are no big deal.

I think that the NFL is beginning to realize that these stories have taken on a life of their own. Belichick is probably one of the most important Coach-figures in the NFL that the league has seen in probably 40 years. Kraft is probably the most influential owner that practically single-handedly saved the season last year. The Saints super-bowl victory was one of the "best" feel good stories in the NFL for decades given the Katrina stuff. It does't no good for the sport to continue to beat the most important people in the league.

Seems like there might be an effort at the top to begin to minimize these "scandals" that got blown out of proportion in the first place because they involves such important people in the sport.

Don't get me wrong, there are still plenty of haters out there, just I sense a subtle change.

3...2...1....Banned!

He has been been kick off the thread but not banned. There is a glimmer of hope that he may understand that he's not posting on a Bills board and he is in our house.

It depends on how he reacts to the infraction points and going forward acts like a football fan and not a troll. The door has been opened for a quick exit though.

The Patriots were not penalized for spying
The Saints are not being penalized for placing bounties
They were penalized for defying a written mandate from the Comminsioner to Cease those activities.
The commissioner can't say or prove that such activities lead to wins or unfairness (which is what it has all become) - but he can say I am God - Obey my commandments and do so at your peril.

We violated the field operations guide by filming the signals of defensive coaches from an improper location. That was the violation. Some call it cheating, and that's an argument over semantics, but we did violate the specifications of the field operations guide, which also governs proper lighting, instructions for mowing the grass (if you have it), painting the field, taking care of the game balls, and other such specifics.

The important part is we admitted it, were punished, apologized, made no excuses and moved on, TO GREAT SUCCESS.

Sure, some will point to two championship losses in winnable games as evidence of "not winning anything since spygate". Sucks, but a single elimination format does that sometimes. It's a good thing we have won a few close games of some importance also, though it sticks in the craw of some haters that some of the positive results in close championship games happened before the piddly little violation of the field operations guide occurred.

so...a MILLION DOLLARS in fines and untold millions in ancillary damage to the NEP?

a fundamental building block, #1 round pick arbitrarily snatched away???

by a former Jet employee??

the same Jets whose head coach was mad that the Patriots and BB asked to have HIS TWO CAMERAS at field level removed previous to the September Jets/Pats matchup?

the same coach who has NOW emphatically stated he did what he did to get back at BB for asking to have HIS cameras removed???

Once again, not to get personal, but this post is another in a long line of Neville Chamberlain -like appeasement posts. You want to move on....you want to admit this issue was the fault of the Patriots...and you want the jihad on the Patriots organization to die and go away.

No.....the whole sordid mess is the FAULT of Roger Goodell. His decisions in this "case" were idiotic, ultra heavy handed and reek of ulterior motive. This needs to be continually addressed until Goodell is DIRECTLY questioned and asked to explain his action/inaction with regards to this "Spygate" incident.

Uh huh. So no name calling, huh?

If you have some new info please fire away, otherwise trolll someplace else.

Oh, I forgot that Chetretoits is a term of endearment.:)

Oh, Bills fan, wide right.

Nah - I'm feeling a little nicer today after yesterday's incident. So now he's confined to the "Visiting Locker Room" forum where he can debate this out with those who feel the need to spar back and forth with him. So if you're reading this buffalobills365, that's where your access is now limited to.

For everyone else, move along - nothing else to see here

well done Ian, classy move ! :D

I love it when people call that cheating. I ask them if this is then Superdy Duper Cheating.

Snow Plow Game

I wish Bruschi had done something like that also, but, the more I think about it, it's almost not his role.

That sort of explanation should come from someone in the national media, TV, print or radio. It doesn't have to be anything complicated, just some bullet points like "Stealing signals is permitted in the NFL, All teams (including your favorite team) attempt to steal signals, All teams, knowing these first 2 facts, change their signals, and, lastly, the taping of the Rams walkthrough never happened."

Unfortunately, that person has not appeared over the last 5 years, so I doubt they ever will.

To touch on Harbaugh's original statement, he is right about people's perception of events. I thought it was interesting that, when the story about the Saints GM hacking into the opposing coaches conversations broke, the first reaction from people like Polian and Clayton was that information was helpful and there was no way you could use during a game. As a result, the subsequent coverage was along the lines of "Even if they did do it, it didn't help."

If anything comes from the "eavesdropping" investigation, people still won't think it's as bad as what the Patriots did because it was portrayed as basically harmless, even though it would be much, much worse.

Mangini probably wants back into the league... he needs all the help he can get to be back on the sideline or in the booth. Admitting that he taped the Patriots would attach a layer of public outrage to him (the same cheatriots BS that pops up) that could mean an owner of another franchise would pass on him just to avoid that PR mess.

I thought it was kind of amazing to hear Mangini say the word "regret" when thinking of what happened. To me that is sorta the beginning of an apology to the Patriots.

Also, hearing that Mangini didn't want the league to get involved was a little confusing, but also left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, thinking that a better (or even average) NFL commish would've dealt with the situation in a more favorable light to the Patriots instead of the mudbath that the whole franchise had to take (yes I'm biased :) )

it was cheating

but you know what? who the f*ck cares what its called.....those trophies are just as shiny, those rings just as nice.....

last year, the team that cheated the least was the colts........
the year before, it was the panthers......

people dislike the pats more than the saints because the pats have been successful since most of these idiots have been paying attention.

in the last 16 years, the pats have won the superbowl 3 times, been to the superbowl 6 times been to the AFCC 7 times, been to the playoffs 12 times, have had a losing record only once........THIS is their problem.......its the WHAT, not the HOW.....I guarantee you some perennial loser has been cheating yearly, but nobody cares.....why? because they're losers

This is one of top 3 dumbest posts of all time.
