Do you support the Tavon Wilson Pick?

It seems like everyone on this forum is divided on Tavon Wilson.

I say give the kid a chance. He hasnt played a down in the NFL and he is already getting bashed by a couple people on this forum.

Yes. I would have taken many other prospects but the Patriots do their homework and addressed a big need with a player they really like. If they miss so be it but the kid deserves the chance to show what he can do before being labelled "garbage" by Patriot fans.

I'm happy we drafted a versatile defensive back, which helps fill a major need. I don't consider myself qualified to say whether he was the right fit for this team. I absolutely support it. I'm sure the bust police will be out in full force if he isn't an All-Pro his first year.

Guys slip through the cracks in the national scouting. Not only are they wrong on people, they just miss. Because of his lack of exposure in the postseason, the scouting world missed on this guy, and what little info they had was wrong - and shows just how much of NFL draftnikking seems to be simply borrowing from other scouting reports, as opposed to watching the tape.

From what evidence we have so far (tape, reports from informed scouts), I am confident about this pick.

The notable "reaches" that I remember are Seymour and Vollmer.

The most excited I have ever seen the board was in 2006 with Maroney and Jackson, two guys who were beloved by all of the draft pundits who gave Belichick an A++++ and a huge gold star.

So, I'm optimistic.

I don't think it's the guy's ability that's in question. It's more about the talk about him being considered a 6-7th rounder. I hope he's good but I think from the info I heard, he would have been still available in the 5th round.


I think that's why most people are upset about it and not that he's not good. Based on that info, we could have picked him later plus getting another pick for the 2nd rounder.

Of course, he may be much better than what I saw from him on film (not that I am good at disecting film) and that maybe some teams were thinking about taking him earlier than most analysts thought. However, my experience, there isn't normally such a huge discrepancy between what the talking heads think and where players are picked (round wise) as they get a lot of their info from teams directly.

Dumb question at this point. What difference does it make whether I support it or not. It was Bill's pick and its his judgement, which in the end is likely to be a lot better than mine, to take him where he did.

Once the decision is made, we fans get to love or hate it, second guess it, or everything in between (as is our right), But now that has been done and over done, there's no sense second guessing. Nothing is going to change Wilson is now a Patriot and by definition I support HIM and wish him all the best and success.

I hold the apparently unpopular opinion that drafting Tom Brady in the 2nd round in 2000 would have been a good pick regardless of whether or not they could have gotten him later.

If you see a guy you like and you think the value is right then who gives a **** what the draft experts say? Who cares what other teams may or may not do, you pull the trigger rather than leaving it to chance that you'll be able to land your guy at a later round.

This isn't drafting in Madden football for goodness sake.

The real question is:

Are you OK with the process and decision to draft the kid or do you agree with the Mel "Clueless" Kiper thought process?

Yes, I recognize reality. He was picked. I can either accept that or live in a fantasy world.

My fantasy world has Brooklyn Decker fighting a different woman every night for the honor of sleeping with me. Tavon Wilson is not important enough to get into my fantasy world.

Look at your poll - the silent majority supports the pick. Until we see the kid play, we might as well get behind him and the team for drafting him.

I think he was drafted too high. I think we could have gotten better players with the 48th pick.
