Re: UDFA's How does this work?

So all teams can go out and "SIGN" some players.
How many and for how long?

These kids want to look up with any team so If team "A" signs them what time frame are we speaking about.
Suppose team "B" wants to sign this player, can team "A" just hold on to them
so they don't get him.
thanks

Many of the players we're signing have been courted by other teams but for various reasons the UDFAs believe that signing with the Patriots gives them their best shot to break into the NFL.

Late round draft choices on the other hand are here whether they would have chosen to be or not - BB picked up the extra late round picks in part because he felt some potential UDFAs might be in demand with other teams.

All are really on an equal playing field to make the roster at this point - BB doesn't much care about where you were drafted - he'll put the best guys he can on the roster in the end.

Favourite in these parts Dale Moss - Packers.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Favre's Revenge for Moss I!!

Bengals got your boy Dye. Couldn't you have made a personal call to get this done OTG?

He no doubt saw Wilson get drafted and knew he had no shot at making the team.

With Sergio Brown still on the roster?

Re: UDFA's How does this work?

Beyond that the length, signing bonus, workout bonus, contract amount and parameters are whatever the two sides agree to.

The new CBA actually mandates that the first contract for UDFAs must be a three-year deal.

Moreover, there's a signing bonus limit of $25K per UDFA, and $75K per team.

I believe Ebner's first assignment will be knee-capping Sergio Brown at the first full squad workout.
If Dennard can take good "care" of a cop, Dennard should have no problem with Sergio Brown.

I see Donte Paige-Moss was not drafted and I wonder how different his life would of been today with some better upbringing. Just a zoo over there at North Carolina football. Bad teammate, quitter and tweeted his way out of a shot at the NFL.

I don't think anyone gives him a shot. Not even the Bengals.

Anyone know how many slots Pats had open after the draft for UDFA's?

With the count now at 90, they should have quite a few openings to sign players.

The hoodied one said we're around 80/81 players.

Surpsied we haven't added a running back or 2 with one of the late picks.

As an interesting note, the Patriots have signed fewer UDFAs than any other team (NEPD has them at 4, with the Iggles at 7, and every other team with at least 8; some look like they've signed closer to 20).

The Patriots will probably end up with about 8. Unlike a lot of other teams
they signed 13 free agents.

We only have 3 RBs on the entire 90 man roster, I expect we'll sign an UDFA RB.

It looks like 84 including the four UDFA's. So 6 more spots available.
