They never learn - How Bout Those Bills

Just as an exercise, let's take a look at it. Here's last year's list:

Patriots
Ravens
Steelers
Bengals
Texans
Broncos

So, as a snapshot in time, immediately post-draft, who's out and who's in?

Wow.
Patriots are the best.
Broncos are in (Manning).
Texans win their division (all those injuries last year and still survived).
The rest are up for grabs: Buffalo, Bengals, Steelers, Ravens, Kansas City (injuries), San Diego (snicker, but...), Oakland. I think the Jets run is over. They have a qb controversy before the season even begins.

I think we are collectively underestimating the Bills. They had a great free agency and a great draft.

Does that put them immediately on par with the Patriots, Ravens and Texans? No.

But I would not be in the least bit surprised it they are one of those NFL teams that annually go from not winning more games than they lost one year to being a playoff team the following season. And if they can continue to make wise personnel decisions they should be setting themselves up to be very competitive for the next several years.

What the Bills did or did not do from 2000-2011 has zero effect on what they will ow will not do in 2012, just like what the Patriots did and did not do from 1960-2000 had zero effect on what they did from 2001 on.

Take away Mario Williams and you have a mediocre team having a mediocre offseason. One guy isn't elevating medicore to contender.

Better than the Jets in th AFC:
Patriots
Steelers
Ravens
Bengals
Houston
Chiefs
Chargers
Broncos

in the same group as the Jets
Raiders
Titans
Bills

Worse than the Jets
Fins
Browns
Colts
Jags

That puts them anywhere from 9th to 12th best in the Conference.
Last years 8-8 will be a real struggle for them to repeat. 6-10 seems more likely.

Cowherd says the Bills just might be the best team in the AFC

I don't expect the Pats to win the division by 5 games again, they are likely going to have a battle for the top...whether that's the Bills remains to be seen.

Let them be. It's been a long time since they've had anything to be happy about.

Yeah, seriously. They've had a good offseason. We've gone to the super bowl like 5 times in the last 12 years. Let them have their moment.

People can tout their D-lines all they want. The Patriots still have the #1 (maybe #2) OL in the league.

Suck it, *****es! Tom Brady will be back in the pocket all day singing MC Hammer - Can't Touch This.

How dare a division foe not wallow in hopelessness and hand the crown to the Patriots every September 1st.

I mean, don't they realize that things never change in the NFL?

When did he say that? On Thursday he was saying the Jets are closer to the Bills than the Patriots, that the Patriots are far ahead of them and it isn't even close.

Bills ain't doing sh!t

I overestimate the Bills at the beginning of every season. They come out of every offseason looking good and then sort of underwhelm. Now I know that past performance is no guarantee of future results, and this year they might do better, but I've been fooled too many times to think that they might be the team for us to beat in the AFCE this year.

There's really only one defensive line that gives the Patriots fits every time they play one another. They aren't in the conference.

As a way too early guess I would say the Patriots, Ravens and Texans have the best chances of returning to the playoffs. One team has to get in from the west; that's up for grabs between the Broncos, Chargers and Chiefs. I don't envision two wild cards from the AFC North once again. I would say there is a decent chance that the Bills replace the Steelers in the post-season, though banking on Marvin Lewis to lead the Bengals to back-to-back post season appearances is not a bet that I would want to make.

If they had a reliable QB, I suppose so.

But it's amazing what happened to Mr. Fitzpatrick once he got paid. . . .

I think I'd be more inclined to chalk that up to four cracked ribs and a bruised sternum than a lackadaisical and unmotivated attitude.

The better question may be whether or not the Bills have improved their offensive line enough for whoever they have at QB to get through an entire season in one piece.

Cowherd said it Friday afternoon on the radio,I was listening to it while coming back from some errands.

I could see them winning the WC, the Jets have huge bust potential everywhere

you need an elite QB to beat the Pats though and the Bills don't have it, simple as that.

can we pin this thread and week 5 or 6 come back and have a laugh.

I will save you the trouble of following the bill season.

here it is. Start off 3 and 0, media/fans ask every week, "are the bills for real"

Play 2 real teams weeks 4 and 5

Lose all hope, go 7-9 (at the most)

No one talks about bills by week 8.

Incase you didnt know, this is a rerun.
