Rather than a new thread on every announcement of an undrafted free agent being signed, let's keep them consolidated to this one thread.

If you are looking for a place to find those signings as they happen (i.e., the quickest yet also most reliable), from my experience the best source on the internet over the years is NEPatriotsDraft.com - not just for Pats UDFA signings, but for all NFL UDFA signings. He already has a column that will be constantly updated, 2012 NFL Undrafted Free Agents. You can also follow them on Twitter @NEPatriotsDraft.

If you sort by position on the CBS Sports Draft Tracker you can get an idea of what top prospects are available as undrafted free agents.

My wish in a previous post was for a minimum of 5 UDFA OL's ... if we get 5 Dante will make one a player.

He is a mauler, a wrestler and a track shot put ... uses his upper body too much ... Dante will work him.

This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It's on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I'll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.

Marcus Forston, Miami
Height: 6'3, Weight: 300 pounds

Strengths: When healthy, especially in 2010, Forston flashed the athleticism and strength to dominate at the line of scrimmage. Has a strong lower half to anchor in the middle. Has a frame that can carry much more strength. Could be a solid nose tackle candidate.

Weaknesses: Often got HIGH at the snap and loses leverage. Lack of experience shows in his inability to use his hands properly to keep himself clean. Missed the majority of two seasons (2009 and 2011) with injury.



Often got high at the LOS?!!! Great another bad seed with drug problems!!! Come on BB!!!!......Only kidding.....If he can stay healthy could be a great player....alot of natural athleticism....watched him a fair amount down here in FL this year......

Markus Zusevics, OL from Iowa, is signed as well:

Zusevics is a 6-foot-5, 303-pounder out of Iowa who likely fell out of the draft after tearing his pectoral muscle while performing on the bench press at the combine.

How many and for how long?

These kids want to look up with any team so If team "A" signs them what time frame are we speaking about.
Suppose team "B" wants to sign this player, can team "A" just hold on to them
so they don't get him.

They are all FAs. It works just like veteran Free Agency, with the exception that they almost exclusively get the same contract, 1 year at the minimum.

As far as I know, they're just like regular free agents. If a UDFA signs with a team, no one else can claim him.

Just like veteran free agents, they are free to work out a deal with any of the 32 NFL teams. The contract would be for whatever the two sides agree to, with a rookie minimum wage per the CBA. Beyond that the length, signing bonus, workout bonus, contract amount and parameters are whatever the two sides agree to.

Once they are signed they are signed, just like a veteran player; I've never heard of any contract being for less than one year. And just like any veteran they can be released at any time.

I'm not sure what you are getting at in terms of a team 'holding on' to a player so another team can't get him. They're not part of the team until they sign a contract, and there's no 'reserving' a player so others can't sign him the way there is with a drafted player.
