Draft tavon wilson in the 2nd! What a joke! What the hell is going on with bb? Nail it in the first and fall flat on your face in the 2nd. Awful! By far the worst pick in this entire draft. Hello b. Taylor, and plenty of other quality guys available! SICKENING!!!

Belichick knows way more than any of us do. Remember that.

You know what popped into my intoxicated mind once the shock wore off?

Kayne West on stage at an awards show saying "George Bush hates black people".

Bill Belichick hates draft junkies.

I don't even know what to say. Despite yesterday we should get a D- for this draft. Completely ridiculous.

it is a strange one. Drafting services had him as a 6th rounder to udfa.

BB took economics. He knows game theory. You don't draft a UDFA with a 2nd round pick...you use the 2nd round pick or trade it down and then pick up that guy if you really like him with a later pick. Unless he is so sure of himself and sure that another team will take him quickly, it makes just no sense.

I don't get it.

Guss Scott part 2? but guss scott was a consensus 4th rounder or so...this guy was not.

Seriously! Why not R. Brooks or B. Taylor? Mind blowing!

I honestly don't think this is about the player, it's about maximizing what you get for the pick.

I'm usually the first to roll my eyes at fans who rant "Why did they take this guy at the bottom of the 3rd, he would DEFINITELY have been available at the top of the 5th!" Value is very, very fluid in that range. But this is a much more dramatic case.

GB traded up to #51. You have to believe that the Pats could have traded down for a future pick, even at terrible "chart value," and still drafted this player.

The most plausible explanation is that BB and Kraft had a huge fight last night and BBs departure from the team is imminent.

Thank you. It's not like tavon wouldn't be there in the 4th round. At least get value!

Head scratching time.

This isn't a reach, it's a miff. Even if he pans out, I wish a more flashy prospect would have been taken. Allen out of South Carolina looked like a perfect fit at this pick.

Tavon Wilson, Illinois, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

I've seen this guy play. He's about the same as Trenton Robinson, except slower. A little bigger, yes. But definitely slower.

Um, I think second round DBs should be picked by someone else.

How could he have passed on Brandon Boykin? It's like Spock wetting his finger and letting it touch the metal going into the socket...the inevitable shock is so puzzling in one so manifestly bright.

Worst pick I've seen Belichick make I believe.

Let's call it a problem of opportunity cost. Whatever Green Bay gave the Eagles to move up from #59 to #51 is the minimum cost.

Tavon Who? isn't even on Mike Mayock's Top 100 list.

Illinois had a meltdown this year, and underachieved in previous years. So perhaps there's more there than meets the eye.

But I have my doubts.

I could have sworn we already drafted Wilson last year, in the 7th round:

The Patriots spent their final pick of the 2011 NFL draft on another defensive back, Malcolm Williams, who admitted he was surprised to get the call. Williams will battle for a roster spot as a special-teams contributor. He is the college teammate of the team's fifth-round pick, OT Marcus Cannon, and said he can play corner, safety or return or block on special teams. Here is PFW draft expert Nolan Nawrocki's scouting report on Williams:

"A stocky, athletic developmental cornerback who clocked at 4.48 in the 40-yard dash at 5-9 5/8, 204 pounds and registered a 40-inch vertical jump, Williams has the physical tools to develop."

SICK! THAT IS WHAT I AM! I'm watching all these other teams draft real 1st rounders, and here we sit...with @#&%*@# tavon wilson! I'm just waiting for dabruinz to chime in on how I don't know what i'm talking about, and rave about this glorious pick.

is it too late for a do-over? Just pick from one of the remaining guys and call it our pick at #48 or whatever? And send Tavin wilson on his way?

The worst part of draft weekend? The reactionaries.

Just let them do their thing, folks.

Reminds me of the Vollmer pick, similar totally off the board pick. I don't have a problem with it, the idea of consensus draft boards is silly, he visited a bunch of teams, if you have him that high on your board no reason to let him go and take the chance one of those teams thinks the way you do.
I disagree with the idea that at the minimum they wasted the amount GB gave to move up, he had visits with at least 3 teams drafting between those picks, including a private workout for the Falcons coaching staff and GM. Now is it possible all those teams had him graded much later.... sure. But is a late round pick we have no roster space for anyway worth the risk of losing the player you have ranked highest? No.

This guy will not be on our final roster, take it too the bank! Evidently BB trusts Ron Zooks opinion...and that is sadly disappointing. Talk about exiting the draft with egg on your face, we just did it!

Hey, you guys got some footage of him playing in the NFL? I sure haven't. Give him a chance and stop buying hype over other players.
