Worrisome report from PFW about BB's future

its just speculation...reiss ( i think ) mighta been someone else, said that rumor is not true taht he is signed through next year at least....the part that doesnt make sense is that it says he may leave to pursue his dream job....
he has had hte pleasure of 5 playoff teams with 3 superbowls (so far)....and has coached argueably the best QB ever along with guys like bruschi and troy brown...

my point is...what exactly is his dream job if this isnt???

This is borderline ludicrous. Dream job? What because they think it's his dream job? No evidence to point to that at all.

The part about Kraft not paying him is equally ridiculous. I'm guessing Kraft is a pretty smart guy. From all indications he and BB have a solid relationship. Why wouldn't he pay him? For all we know BB could be under contract for the next 10 years. Either way, Kraft can afford to pay him. It may be news to the folks at PFW, but Kraft isn't exactly hurting for money.

PFW hasn't been the same since Joel Bushbaum died.

I REALLY hope there is no truth to this, but given the recent rumors that have been discussed about this maybe there is some fire to this smoke.

Not something I like bringing up with a possible SB looming, but we can't stick our heads in the sand either.

I confess: when there are the words "worry" and "BB" in a thread title it gets me every time -- but this report is not plausible.

First, it supposes that money is the motivation. That presupposes the old "Kraft is cheap" line for which there is no evidence whatsoever. It also presupposes that someone who makes a LOT of money is motivated by having even more. That may be true of some people but, unless he's changed a lot, I don't think it is true of BB (let's face it, he's not spending it on clothes :D ).

Second, it supposes that BB and Pioli will split up. To my mind, if BB were to leave for a new job, it's much more likely that Pioli would go with him than not.

Third, it supposes that being coach of the Giants with someone else as General Manager is preferable for BB to being coach of the Patriots and General Manager as well.

So I don't buy it at all.

If you want to worry, worry that there have been behind-the-scenes difficulties with the Krafts. If that were happening, the Giants would know and would have been manoeuvring to create an opening that both of them could take at the end of the season. As it is now, there is no such opening -- and there most likely won't be one for a GM at the end of 2007.

Good post. I'll throw another variable in. What if the Giants have a good year? That would certainly throw a monkey wrench into PFW's baseless speculation.

Wow, PFW really is ridiculous. A dream job? What was BB's record before he had the KRafts and Brady? If he was stupid enough to sign with the Giants we'd be screwed, but BB will NOT win a superbowl with Eli, no friggin way.

He was a little miffed he didn't get the job after Parcells left. They went with Ray Handley. Doubt if he goes back. Pioli might be a different story.
But, I sincerely doubt if BB leaves. Who would want to deal with the NY media? Especially BB. Doesn't like the media. He'd get grilled in NY.

Eli Manning? Jeremey Shockey? Plaxico Burress? Lavarr Arrington? Is this your dream job?

No way in hell BB takes over that team.

Sounds like a rehash of the ProFootballTalk.com rumor.

What KRRRAAAAAAAAP

This is such a bink chunk of horse puckey. These guys at PFW get their scoop reporting from WEEI. YES, sir they do. This all started last week when, on the D & C show, and again on the Dale and Holley show, a call started hypothesising about this theory, then D&C started having fun with it, and the next thing you know callers are calling and giving this theory some speculative credence. It just kept rolling to the point, that it was a viable possiblility without anyone remembering that this all started from some caller going, "hey, how about this for a scenario......".

So much for the big scoop PFW, and if anybody believes this krapppppp, then they are going to make themselves miserable over nothing.

Theres been rumors about this for at least a month or so.

The Giants job might have been BB's dream job, but, as someone earlier posted, how anyone can say that the Pats gig isn't his dream job now is utterly beyond me.

Well...it sounds like Krafty is keeping his wallet shut (no shock there)...maybe the Giants will have theirs open?

I'll rank that up there with the stupid rumor of the year.

He's signed through 2007 ( or beyond as far as we know). We are suppose to get our worry towels out now?

Couldn't agree more.

If we're not getting all righteously indignant about Tomlinson's whining, we're scaring ourselves to death about Pioli's or Belichick's (or both) rumored impending departure.

Isn't there an important game this coming Sunday?

Look, the bottom line is that this is something we can't know but about which we can only speculate.

So, my speculation is 1) that "where there's smoke there's fire," 2) that we should expect BB back for sure next year but accept that there's a possibility that he'll move on thereafter and, finally, 3) that this means we should focus on winning #4 this year, because the media frenzy would make that very difficult next year if indeed Belichick were to be moving on.

1) I know that where there's smoke there's smoke.
2) The future is never certain.
3) see number 2 or repeat, 'It is what it is' until you have dry mouth.

that about sums it up.

Ok....and they claim to know how much Kraft is willing to pay for BB and Pioli?
Have they gone up to him and asked him? Pure bs rumor.

How weird that BB is constantly saying there's no QB he'd rather have than Tom Brady when secretly he's been pining for the chance to coach that dud Eli Manning?

I guess the next rumor is that Tom will be going too.
