I'm very happy wit h day 1 as i think we all are.. but now we have 'only' 2 picks left, both in the second round. Do we go BPA there and get 2 more monsters? Or do we trade one pick down or even both picks? I think just going for broke and getting the best DB and Big D-lineman available...

Here are some of the players remaining (likely second, maybe third rounders)

DE
Upshaw
Branch
Curry
Vernon

DT
Ta'amu
Still
Worthy
Reyes

LB

CB

Trumaine Johnson

Random question (without starting a new thread) assuming we dont trade back today does the Partiot's war room take Saturday off or do they sit around waiting for the phone to ring?

C'mon man your former use of Pioli as an avatar convinced me that you actually are Pioli... would hope you could shed more light on that than anyone!

Seriously, I figure they'll sit there and watch for the players they like falling down the board until they're too good to not make a deal for. No matter what anyone thinks of BB, it's pretty much impossible to accuse him of being asleep at the wheel for stuff like this - the guy's always trying to keep options open.

I'm guessing they come out with three more players - DL, DB, and WR .... let's say Reyes, Boykin, and Markin Jones, or their rough equivalents....I think if Reyes falls to the next pick, and judging by the DL still on the board it's a strong possibility, he's the pick. Then maybe turning 63 into two third rounders.

Of course, it's apparent that Belichick isn't in love with this draft, so I can see him trading the first second rounder for a 1st or 2nd + next year .

Or is he not in love with next year's draft, since he's not trying to get into it?

I wouldn't be surprised by something like:

#39 TRADE: Jaguars send #39 and #70 to the Patriots for #48 and #62. Patriots select Kendell Reyes, DL

#70 Ron Brooks or Chase Minnifield, DB

Reyes makes a ton of sense and I don't see anyone taking him prior to the Pats picking at #48 today.

DB also makes sense with the other pick. I see Fleming as an outside CB, Boykin as a slot guy or Trumaine Johnson as a combo DB. If they trade down, I could see one of the Josh's (Robinson or Norman) or even Asa Jackson if they drop way down. If they are looking pure safety, I really like Antonio Allen since he seemed to be a guy falling down draft boards for no apparent reason. Just don't know what they are looking for based on the plan for McCourty/Dowling/Allen/Arrington/Moore.

So many options at 48. All I know is they are in a position to improve this team some more. Possibly Trumaine Johnson,Chapman,Reyes,Wolfe,Crick and a number of Wr's.

Take a chance on Jenkins if he's there and draft a young WR that can return punts/kick offs and I'll consider this a perfect draft.

I can't remember where, but I saw one report that was adamant that the Pats aren't picking Jenkins ever. So don't get your hopes up, people.

I read that too somewhere last night. I'm cool with that, he has no one to blame but himself.

Given the past draft history you'll have two bust in second round.
BB is awful when drafting CB's and WR's in second round.
Just grab an OT and a DT.

I think we should draft both a DB... Jenkins, Fleming, Hosley, Robinson, Hayward, Trumaine Johnson, Taylor or Martin and a BIG 3-4 DE /4-3DT (Think Devon Still, Kendall Reyes, Jerel Worthy, Jared Crick, Derrick Wolfe)

I'm cool with it, but if he's there without a trade up I don't see us passing on him. I don't see how Reyes survives 18 picks into Round 2. He's clearly the best 3-4 DE left on the board. We need to trade up to get him, the same for trumaine Johnson he's been buzzing for a while now.

My prediction: I'm with patchick.... Chase Minnifield or Ron Brooks will be one of our 2nd round selections.

I would love a DB or Chris Rainey but not in the 2nd and that's all we have.

I think/hope we'll see one trade down or trade into next year and we'll pick up G Jeff Allen and DB Casey Hayward.

I'd be happy with Brandon Boykin and Brandon Taylor. Gives us some KR help and secondary.

I'm not sure why you think we need a big DE. Chandler Jones has the frame to add 15-25 lbs easily and could be 280+ by next year. He'll start off in the Carter/Anderson roll this year and transition nicely as a RDE in the 3-4.

I love Brooks as a prospect but I think his value would mainly be on ST and we alreay have Slater and Marquice Cole for Gunners.

I have to put up a front you know :)

Draft gurus: Can Worthy and/or Still play 3-4 DE or no?
