It may ve too early..BUT what positions are deep and strong this year?? WHich are weak?? Just curious as to how it looks now an dhow it may effect teh Patriots pickings... I am sure also theer may be some good late round picks as well. More players in the mix..a deeper team?? A netter team!!

im not expert but heres my analysis....my problem is i only know the big names, i dont know how to judge the later rounds...but as far as 1st/ 2nd rounds...

WR - one of the strongest in years (id say much better then last year)
QB - after russel and quinn thers not much and i dont even think quinn is all that great.
RB - no real marquee back...Lynch out of Cal is the best...then rice... Rice(not sure if hes a sr or not)
LB - not as good as last year at all....patrick willis and brandon siler are probly the two best ... blades and davis are good players too...
TE - dont know, there is a few guys with 1st round grades...
CB - seems to be average talent, I feel like CB talent is usually pretty constant.
S - pretty good....i think merriweather will drop but is he worth it???(he was the guy from miami who took off his helmet and used it as a weapon.) Nelson is my favorite here

I agree on the two biggest need positions for us, WR being strong, LB being weak. Of course, if they like Jackson for next year then him, Caldwell and Gaffney aren't too weak but it's such a strong year for WR we may look there. Better, though, it that a lot of teams will fill their WR need in the first round and that should drop a guy down. I still like Steve Smith in the 3rd if he's there.

LB just makes me shake my head, there's some guys I'd like but it's not real strong.

Safety I think is better than pretty good with Landry, Griffin, Nelson and Merrieweather (his grade dependent on character, as you said).

From what I have heard the stongest part of this year's draft is WR,DL,CB and OT. I would say that sounds good for our draft needs. Since Adrian Peterson has declared he is now the marquee back of this draft.
