I checked it out last night and there were a few interesting tidbits, but imo none more interesting than his 5 CB's with 1st round grades:

Morris Claiborne
Stephon Gilmore
Janoris Jenkins(red flag)
Dre Kirkpatrick
Chase Minnifield

The last one naturally jumped out at me as well, considering our secondary in 2011 and the fact that BB comes from the parcells coaching tree makes this a very interesting draft grade. This guy has been projected as late as the 4th round, so BB could see value there in the late 2nd or early 3rd if he shares Parcells' belief that this guy has 1st round ability.

Thoughts?

If BB believes Minnifield is a 1st round prospect he won't wait until the late 2nd. He'd take him at 27, 31 or early 2nd if he was the highest rated prospect on his board.

edit: Much to the dismay of many here

Burfict in the 2nd. All credibility lost.

I don't think his board is necessarily geared toward the 2 gap 3-4 system. Its kind of a mixed bag of personnel. Did the kid get caught smoking crack while choking a minor? What did I miss?

I think Minnifield projects better as a free safety than a CB, due to the lack of foot speed.

1 ~ MinniField in the 1st?

2 ~ Burfict in the 2nd??

3 ~ Moss in the 3rd???

Honestly, that Board reads like it hasn't been updated since October.

Keep Parcells away from the grocery shopping! He's a great coach but no so great as a talent evaluator. I'm still mad about the Marion Butts signing.

Chase Minnifield

Thoughts?

- Belichick coached his dad in Cleveland. Not sure that they maintained a relationship since, but Belichick may have an affinity for the Minnifield family.

- Even if he rates Minnifield highly, with the depth at CB you can almost certainly get him in the 2nd. And if you miss, there are plenty of consolation prizes available.

- Minnifield seems too slight (183) to play safety. Already have Gregory as a centerfielder and there should be better combo CB/S options (Fleming, Dennard) in the 2nd round.

- "Chase" implies trailing your target. Not an optimal name for a CB. Kind of like Bob Walk in baseball or Jason Dufner in golf.

Dude, that is a long time to hold a grudge.

Have you taken your meds today????

Are you currently located anywhere near a post office????

No, but thanks for the reminder.

I can appreciate what he did for the franchise while he was here but I can't forget what a b* tch he was at the end and after he left. Just don't like the guy.

Or Chevy marketing the Nova in Mexico?

Sure. :)

Every draft I compile my Pats Prospects list, which is based on specific criteria. And this year I found it difficult to find as many prospects as I have in the past. That said, Minnifield was the first CB to make the list.

The only other CBs from my list are Josh Robinson and Casey Hayward.

Round two seems to be the likely place for BB to get his CB. And I do think he may add two DBs via the draft.

Former Iowa QB Chuck Long didn't last too long in the NFL, apparently since he couldn't chuck it long.

I read about the paternal connection, NFL bloodlines are a plus I'm assuming.

Minnifield not being able to play some FS will be a knock because I think they are looking for possible conversions as well as plug and play depth @ corner. Dennard could prob be had in the 4th or later seeing he could actually face jail time. Punching a cop in the face is a felony :bricks:

Agreed, Chase is a terrible name for a CB. If Mercilus ends up a bust tho, this has no bearing because that has to be one of the greatest names for a LB/DE ever.

I am so conflicted about Minnifield. On tape, he's my favorite corner in the draft based on his play over the last two years. His knee injury really sapped his speed at his pro day, however. The gamble is whether or not he can heal up and regain his fleetness of foot. He can play zone or man, and he played every single secondary position at UVA. Good ballskills, but is more than just a cover guy. He's never afraid to really lay someone out.

We lack so much information in regard to medical records. The teams know what's up, however, and if the Patriots are comfortable with taking Minnifield, then we will end up with a major steal. I truly believe that.

Didn't care for Bruschi, Law, Milloy, McGinest?
