According to Michael Smith on NFL Live today, the Raiders might be interested in Patriots OC Josh McDaniels as their next head coach.

On the other hand, I am not sure Smith has any real information or was just speculating. He put it like this: Al Davis is looking for a young upcoming star. "Look for them to go after [McDaniels]."

Sheesh, haven't we lost enough coordinators? And thanks, Boston Guy Smith, for putting ideas in the senile one's head.

McDaniels may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he's smart enough not to take a job in Oakland.

Josh is smart enough to know that going in and trying to rebuild the Oakland Raiders is a suicide mission. He is not dumb enough.

If he leaves, it won't be to go the Raiders unless they offered up some SERIOUS cash.

Don't laugh. Look at Mangini. They are probably thinking he can spin some magic.

The Jets are one thing but the RAIDERS. If Josh did take that job I'd just laugh.

Quite simply, it's an intelligence test: if he takes the job, then it proves the point of those who felt he wasn't up to handling the OC job in New England.

Yes, the downside of the Jets' success (even though 70% attributable to Pennington's return to health) is that other teams will pluck our coordinators quicker than ever.

Hiring a coach that young is something only the Raiders are dumb enough to do.

I'll take two first round draft picks from the Raiders for Josh McDaniels.

Raiders have a solid defense, but that OL is terrible. I hope JMcD doesn't leave. We can't afford to lose another Coordinator.

why don't they just hire Ryan? He seems to have done a pretty good job with that D. Or does he not want the job?

No compensation is required when a coach goes to higher-ranking position on another team.

This is Al Davis we're talking about. We can probably convince him McDaniels is Vince Lombardi and he should give us two full drafts for him.

USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is supposedly the leading candidate for the Oakland job. He's 32 and he's never been a head coach at any level...

And that is why they are the Oakland Raiders.

I hope if he takes a head coaching job it's at Miami or Buffalo so we can play twice a year against a coach with absolutely no experience as a head coach, position coach or assistant position coach.

He's dealt with one guy and a playbook as his total coaching experience.
