Who will be the pick that few, if any, are expecting. One name only please, it's too easy to list a few possibilities. I'm talking about the first pick the Patriots make regardless of where it is.

Mine is Lavonte David.

Worked out by BB himself, is an exceptional ball player and is a good fit for a position of need - coverage LB in sub, WILL in 4-3.

I have been touting Doug Martin as the usual Belichick shock pick for a while now but it seems that some others on this forum believe it is a real possibility.

That being said, I'm not an advocate of it. I'd like to see what Ridley and Vereen have and possibly pick up a RB in a later round.

Trumaine Johnson, CB/Safety
Harrison Smith, Safety

If I'd been allowed two names, Martin would have been my second.

DB- Jayron Hosley. I have no idea why, it's just a gut feeling.

Lavonte David.

-edit- After further consideration.

hope michael brockers falls... i think its a dark horse in the event he falls into their lap

Brian Quick WR from Appalachian State. We signed a lot of WRs in the off season so I think that a WR would be a surprise. This guy is 6'4". We have enough smurfs. We need a tall receiver.

Peter Konz - Can play Right Guard if Waters Retires and kick inside to Center when Koppen retires in 2013.

In the first round?

Vinny Curry....

Mine is Lavonte David as well. Belichick may see real value and use for him right away. A couple of years back Belichick brought in Tank Williams to play a hybrid role that David fits absolutely perfectly, as a big safety/ cover LB who can rush the passer and move around to fill a number of needs in package defenses. If David were 2 inches taller and 5 pounds heavier he would be a top 10 pick because he can flat out play.

I'm usually wrong about the Patriots first pick and probably have a better shot with the darkhorse than the player I will have them taking, which would be Hightower if he is still there.

Courtney Upshaw .. Somehow it looks like he might fall..

I think one of David, Kendricks or Bobby Wagner is almost a certain pick this year. I really like the first two (slight edge to David). I'm worried they take Wagner. He's OK, just not as polished as David or Kendricks.

AMINI SILATOLU

Best OL in the draft.

Lavonte David as well, and I wouldn't be too mad, he's a pure football player. He would have to see the field in unique ways at 6'1 233 pounds though.

Brandon Boykin

Michael Kendricks.

BB appears to be changing his defense strategy and these fast college LBers that can change direction well, can cover like big safeties in the NFL while also being able to come up in run support, which I think is how BB intends to counter the big TE passing fad.

If BB takes smaller but faster LBers like a Kendricks or David is this the end of the line for the eternally slow Spikes???????
