Ok here goes my final mock before the draft, using PFW's chart:

27: Courtney Upshaw - Terrific football player who like Brandon Spikes didn't test that well but is a football player, was productive in college, was a performer against good competition in big games and is the BPA in my opinion at a position of need.

31: Devon Still: Been a favorite 3-4 DE target of mine for a while. The talk seems to be he underachieved at Pen, but for me he seems to be the most talented and highest upside 3-4 that has been in our reach for some time. i rated him higher than Muhamad Wilkerson and Cam Jordan. I think he is a better penetrating 3-4 DE than Cam Heyward and has more upside than Cam Heyward last year. Only question marks for me are can he be a leader one day taking over the reigns from big Vince? I don't know but i am willing to give his talent a shot here. (i know this may be traded but i am taking the picks in this draft to help the D)

48: Janoris Jenkis CB: I will probably get killed for this but... I am hoping they talk to the kid and give him the ok. He would add immediate depth and talent at CB. This would let BB have the ability to play Devin either FS or CB (wherever BB thinks he is best) and have a full pre season at the position. I don't think BB will make this pick but after watching his tape, the kid can play and he could also take over Kick Off returns from Woody.

62: Jonathan Martin - Way to much value here to pass up, Injury risk replacement for Vollmer, lets us find the best position for Cannon RT or RG. Gives us lots of flexibility at tackle with Solder, Vollmer, Cannon and now Martin.

93.) Brandon Boykin: Has the athleticisim for the position, was a good special teamer and has dropped due to medical history. Sounds right up the patriots alley, also adds insurance if Jenkins hasn't reformed as much as we had hoped. Hopefully will mean we don't have to revert to street FA's again.

126.) Markell Martin: Talented player at FS who could be an interesting pick up for this team. Will at least hopefully beat out the IR machine we have there at the moment for a back up Role to our other safety's.

A bit defensively heavy but i didn't see a RB i liked at our picks and didn't think a WR would make this roster over Branch, Ocho, Edelman, Gonzales or Stallworth. I think that this draft has the potential to revolutionise our Defense (if the risks pay off) and really help Brady and BB get that 4th ring.

27. Kendall Reyes, DL, UConn

If nothing else, his sack celebrations remind me of Richard's, so he's got that going for him.

31. Harrison Smith, S, Notre Dame

Most versatile safety in the class and probably the best. Might not be saying much at the end of business, but there it is.

48. Josh Robinson, CB, Central Florida

Quick, quick, quick.

62. Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB, WVU

Tossup between he and Perry as to who will be the best pass rusher to come from this draft.

93. Donald Stephenson, OT, Oklahoma

Shocked to see him ranked this high, but he's the most athletic tackle in this draft.

126. Jake Bequette, DE/OLB, Arkansas

Doubling down on OLB candidates. Between Bequette and Irvin, I'm seeing the possibility of revamping a position that has held the team hostage since Vrabel and Rosie started collecting AARP benefits.


Pretty sure I could have got each of these guys later than the indicated pick, so the potential to trade down and buff this crop of picks with bonus picks exists, but I'm far too lazy to go through that.

First/Last Mock, assuming no trades, and using the PFW rankings:

27. Nick Perry, DE, USC

I don't love this pick, and if I were in control of the draft board, I wouldn't make this pick. But I'm not BB, and I can see the logic here. Perry is one of the few proven pass rushers on the table, and has the best pedigree/metrics of any of them. Football Outsiders (a site I respect) has Perry as the only highly-projected pass rusher that they deem worthy of that pick, and I think BB will as well. Also, I'm of the belief that the four-lineman 'sub' defense is our main one, which takes away concerns I have of Perry not wanting to play standing up.

Oh, and if he's there at 27 and we don't take him, he'll be gone to the Packers at 28. Hence why I picked him instead of my next pick...

31. Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

Just too much value here to pass on him, with no guarantee he'll be around at 48. One of the best cover CBs in 2010, he would have been picked before Prince (and certainly before Ras-I) if he had declared last year. Instead, we have a chance at a shutdown corner. Seriously, if it were just down to the tape, he'd be a top-10 pick. However, the character concerns are serious, which is why I think he falls. BB has a history of taking in players with character concerns, though, and everything I've read indicates that J. Jenkins loves football, a trait we know BB appreciates and looks for.

48. Mike Martin, DT/Versatile, Michigan

I love this guy. Love him. He's versatile, hardworking, routinely took on double teams at Michigan, a four-year starter, strong as a bull, with a bit of a pass rush. Also looked great at the Senior Bowl, and crushed Mike Brewster at the Mich/Ohio St. game. I could go on, but yeah...just love the guy. I see him as an immediate Mike Wright replacement, with a bright future on our Dline. The only issue I see is that he has no set 'position', but I feel that Patricia would love him too.

62. Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB, WVU

First off, I don't see any way the Pats take both him and Nick Perry. However, I do think that one of these picks will be traded to next year, as this draft isn't particularly strong. Thus, I'm hedging my bets a bit with this pick. This is another pick I don't particularly have very strong feelings about...he's good. He's shown flashes of being great. Whether he gets there (or on the field at all) depends entirely on himself.

93. Joe Adams, WR/RS, Arkansas.

If anyone checks, they'll see I cheated a bit, as he's 6 picks above this one...but since it's later in the draft, I'll go with this anyways.
Electric player. Jumps VERY well, catches well, runs quite well...and gets good separation. That's the key to succeeding in the NFL, and I do think this guy will. Not sure where, but I think he has a future. Also solves our RS problem.

126. Christian Thompson, FS, South Carolina State

I so badly wanted to take Janzen Jackson somewhere, but I just can't see the Patriots taking him with that armed robbery somewhere in his past. This guy has similar issues, and also has talent, but doesn't have an armed robbery charge, so I could see the Patriots gambling on him. Runs well, has issues with staying consistant and intensity. Fills a need for the short-term.

Good fit with the Pats, in terms of need and culture.
