Anyone ever hear of this guy? At his pro day he put up numbers that matched Stephen Hill from GT. Moss ran a 4.38 40 (Hill: 4.36), had a 41.5 vertical (Hill: 39.5), a 10' 10" broad (Hill: 11' 1") and an eye popping 6.32 3 cone drill (Hill: 6.88). In fact if his 3 cone is correct, it is better then any 3 cone ever done at any combine. It appears this guy has only 1 year of college football, but had 61 catches for 949 yards, 15.6 ypc and 6 tds. Obviously he is from a small school and is raw, but I'd take a flyer on him late (if we get a late round pick, that is).

Not only have I heard of him but I covet him. I’d love to hear “Brady to Moss” a bunch more before TFB rides off into the sunset.

I wish we'd grab more late round athletic freaks like Michael Jasper and Dale Moss, I'm pissed that the Giants got a Lombardi, in large part due to the play of Cruz. I want my own Cruz, hopefully Dale Moss can be even better than him.
I'm peeved lately by Bill Belichick trading away precious draft picks for stiffs like Derrick Burgess, Albert Haynesworth, Chad Ochostinko, Jarrad Page. Ochostinko and Page cost the New England Patriots a fifth round draft pick and a seventh round draft pick, respectively in the 2012 NFL Draft. Less likely is the chance the New England Patriots will be able to select wide receiver Dale Moss, as well as any another potential late round gem.

I'd wager that Taylor Price has moved Bill Belichick off the "great athlete with very little production against weaker competition" train.

Wouldnt that mean he'd pass on Victor Cruz? Oh yeah, he did but the Giants didnt, if we have Cruz instead of them we win the last Superbowl.

Taking Taylor Price wasn't the issue, taking him that early, while Jimmy Graham was on the board, was the issue.

Victor Cruz was invisible in the Super Bowl, what's to say he wouldn't have been for the Patriots?

Why would the Patriots have drafted Graham? Gronkowski & Hernandez are a perfect compliment to each other, Graham is too similar to Gronk and wouldn't have produced the same match up problems Hernandez does.

As for this Moss kid, he looks good on the videos posted but against poor opposition but those pro day numbers if accurate  I'd gladly trade back if it meant picking up late round picks to get someone like him.

The fact that we were focusing on defending him might have had something to do with his stats, it also opens things up for other players on the Giants.

Also, would the Giants have even gotten to the SB without him? Could we have been better with a stud like him? I think so.

I don't want Graham as opposed to Hernandez, I want him in addition to Hernandez! Why? Because one can NEVER have too much firepower!

He's barely played football but he has exactly the kind of elite athleticism you want in a project.

The barely played Football thing doesn't really bother me as much as it probably should, JPP barely player Football and look how good he is!

If a player has the motivation and smarts to go along with the natural athletic talent then they will always have a chance of making it big.

I think their experience comes into play when you're deciding how much you want to spend on them.

I have this weird fantasy of Dale Moss being mentored by Randy Moss, and then becoming a superbeast, Randy's gift to TFB.

I don't get why people complain about not taking Graham, we took Gronk in round 2 that year and Hernandez in round 4. Honestly I would take Hernandez over Graham at this point.

There are always exceptions -- jerry Rice comes to mind -- but it's hard enough to evaluate Wrs who played major college ball. History is littered with failed WRs who made evaluators drool with their athleticism yet couldn't catch, get open, understand a playbook, etc.

I actually liked Price in the draft. I'll also admit I would not have wanted Belichick to draft 3 TEs in the first 4 rounds, as you're apparently advocating.

I would not have wanted 3 TEs in the firth 4 either, but in hindsight I would do it. Problem is hindsight is 20-20. 2010 was a good draft for us even with Price being a bust.

Just as a good QB takes what the defense gives him a good GM takes what the market gives him, if a wealth of great prospects are available relatively cheaply then I say load up.

Given what was known then Price was a good pick, it didn't work out. Thats why it is better to have more picks in the 2, 3 and 4 range so you can afford to bust on one and still pick up a few studs.

With the info available at the time what makes Price a better pick than Graham?

He only had one season of college playing, and was a bad blocker, still is. He turned out to be a great player but I can't fault the Pats for taking Price. He was big, fast and strong. Wasn't polished but had potential, same with Graham. One worked out one didn't.
