Espn article on the whole post game thing

To me, it goes back further to the San Diego game last year.

The Donks are a different story altogether, and while frustrating yes, I think this was clearly a "vs. San Diego Chargers" thing than a frustration from last years playoff's thing...

Good email NEM.

But I think that what we saw yesterday comes from the Chargers game in Week 4 from 2005. The Chargers walked onto OUR field, disrespected OUR team, disrespected THE FANS, disrespected EVERYTHING WE STOOD FOR. They deserved what they got yesterday and if I was Ellis Hobbs or whoever else was involved I wouldnt regret it.

Like for example if we played the Ravens we could shake hands and walk off the field excited and not taunting them and their fans but its a different story with San Diego after what they did last year.

I agree with all the point made by you guys and would also like to add that sometimes excitement occurs because something amazing just happened. I know I thought we were going to lose for a large portion of the game. I imagine that with the way our offense was playing yesterday, it took every bit of concentration and focus not to just throw in the towel on the whole thing. And to win like we did....with so many incredible things happening....weren't we all just shocked and amazed? And excited? It's a human response, for cying out loud.

Maybe you guys should start worrying about the Colts? Just a thought.

Umm, maybe you're not too bright, pal, but here's a newsflash: We aren't actually drawing up the gameplan.

So your saying the all nighter I pulled last night scheming for the Colts game isn't going to be used by the coaching staff?

Maybe you should go on back to that Charger forum rather than try to hopelessly defend your great LT from a forum full of Patriots fans.

I think Belichick and his coaches are doing just that. We fans, however, can and will revel for a while over yesterday's game.

Hmmmmm, unless your name is Josh McDaniels.....or Dean Pees....Dante Scarnecchia, maybe?:p

Living vicariously through us? :)

Sorry, Lander, I couldn't help myself there. You're one of the good ones and I am glad to see you sticking around. You've brought a lot of good posts to the board and it is good to get a SD point of view..

Do you actually think BB and crew are slightly concerned with being unpopular in SD? We fans are talking about it because that's what a message forum is for. Perhaps you should start worrying about the draft instead of lurking on here.

Let's be clear about Sunday. What the Chargers (LaDainian Tomlinson in particular) got so angry about was Patriots players doing a mocking version of the dance that Shawne Merriman does every time he records a sack -- which is to say, the Chargers felt disrespected by someone doing an imitation of something that can be viewed as disrespectful every single time Merriman does it.

Ijust sent him this e-mail.

Mark:

I read your article, in the title of this e-mail, and found it to be very interesting, and informative.

However, I would like to clarify one sentence that you wrote.

This one.

"Now Belichick's team, a three-time Super Bowl entry, comes off looking like it's so shocked to win a playoff game that it barely knows what to do. "

Winning this game goes a lot deeper, for Patriot players and all Patriot fans. It meant more than just beating the Chargers and advancing onto the AFC Championship game.

It goes back to last year's divisional playoff, in Denver, a game in which the Pats lost under very unusual circumstances.

The Pats played very poorly in that game, made several mistakes, and even at that, they outplayed the Broncos, for the most part.

But coupled with their errors came a couple of very important official's decisions that went against them.

One a very bad call against the Patriots for pass interference which was no where near interference, setting up a Bronco Touchdown.

And, the officials refusal to see the ball go in and out of the end zone on Champ Bailey's interception, and return, which would have given the ball back to the Patriots.

Those two decisions cost the Patriots the game.

Yes, they have no one to blame but themselves, but those two decisions put the frosting on the cake for the Broncos.

Since that game, it has eaten at the insides of, not just us, the fans, but of the players who were involved in that game, and of course the coaches and management.

The Patriots had something to prove, and they waited, and waited, knowing that the day would come.

It came yesterday, In San Diego.

Hence, a very un-patriotic like celebration.

And I, for one, see nothing wrong with it.

In fact, if you care to take the time, you will find a video of Merriman, at their rally, saying he was going to punch Brady in the mouth, followed by choruses of "Brady Sucks, Brady Sucks."

So, if LT wants to discuss "UN-class" he should begin at home first.

Just clearing the air a little.

Sincerely,

'Spose you're right!

'Course, you guys don't have anything to worry about till next season, so I suppose that's yet another advantage that accrues to you...
