Slater just signed a 3 year deal so he'll be around through the end of the 2014 season.

Edelman, I expect will get an extension some time during the season.

I wouldn't mind the Pats bringing in a youngster, but it's going to be tough with Welker and Johnson guaranteed spots and Slater as the Pure special teamer.

But Slater and Edelman aren't really receivers as such, just utility/special teamers. I think it's the fullbacks rather than the number of receivers that is telling me we won't draft a WR. It'll be hard for a rookie WR to get any playing time if we're trying to fit a FB, RB, Welker, Lloyd, Gronk and Hernandez on the field. The number of multi-WR plays will drop fairly sharply so it'll be tough giving meaningful playing time to the WR's already on the squad, nevermind a rookie.

It is tough indeed. Last year I thought it was a log jam with Tate being odd man out. And then eventually Price following later on. This year its going to be a 50 car pileup. If they draft another wr like Jones or Wright then your looking at 9 or 10 wrs in some fierce competiton.

Larsen is here as a special teamer, not a true fullback, imho. Polite is gone. Fiametta was signed.

In all honesty, I see us using a FB as a H-back as much as the TEs..

I think it's more telling that the Pats have 3 true TEs to go along with the 2 FBs and 3 RBs.. I can't remember a time when BB had that set-up previously.

This is not a vote for him, but James Brown is a very nice OT option at this point.

If you liked Ellis Hobbs, then you'll love Chase Minnifield - but w/o Hobbs' KOR skills.

Btwn DE/DT Billy Winn, DE Tyrone Crawford, WR Marvin Jones & DB Josh Norman, my vote goes to:

DB Josh Norman, Coastal Carolina.
Coming from a small school (my wife's oldest nephew will graduate from there this spring), he prob.
has a bit of learning to do, but he has excellent hands, is tough, and his athleticism is good for CB
& VG for FS, which could be an option should our mock pick at 27, Mark Barron, prove a better SS than FS.

How is Joe Adams still available?!?

Marvin Jones

To those who keep complaining about Minnifield: Did you actually watch him over the past two years? Injury aside, he has the speed, skills, and smarts to thrive in any defense. He has played every single position in the secondary--LCB and RCB, slot, boundary and star positions, both safety positions--and has experience in zone, man, off-man, etc. He's a sure tackler, has exceptional ball skills, and when healthy is the second best corner in this draft behind only Claiborne.

Minnifield is absolutely the way to go.

He's small, slow, and has significant injury concerns.

That said, I sure hope he's around in the fourth, because he's my next favorite pick after Minnifield.

He's slow like Terell Davis is slow

The 3rd round is a great spot to take a WR. I like both Adams and Jones. I'm glad Criner is gone, so I don't have to argue with people that want him :D

Sorry, but I certainly don't see him as the 2nd best CB. What I've seen of him didn't impress me I'm afraid and I just don't see how he'd add anything to our secondary.
