My picks:

27: SS Mark Barron, Alabama - big hitter for the secondary
31: DE/OLB Andre Branch, Clemson - 10.5 sacks, 6-4 260, quick
48: WR Chris Givens, Wake Forest - 4.4 speed, #2 YAC in nation, 1330 yards
62: CB Dwight Bentley, LA Lafayette - quick, physical corner
95: DE/OLB Jake Bequette, Arkansas - 10 sacks
128: DT/DE Derek Wolfe, Cincinnati - 6-5 295, 9.5 sacks

Obvious focus on improving the pass rush and secondary with DL that have potential to play 4-3 or 3-4.

27 trade into 2nd and future 1st
31 Coby Fleener
48 Vinny Curry
?? Mohamed Sanu
62 Harrison Smith
93 trade for 5th and sixth rounders
128ish Casey Hayward
?? Keith Tandy
?? Donte Paige-Moss

In no particular order I'm layin a few names out I really think will possibly b pats... Fletcher cox, nick perry, stephon Gilmore , jamell Fleming,

27. Mark Barron, S, Alabama - Too much working in Barron's favor here - still a position of need for the Pats, Barron's familiarity working with a Belichick-style defense, his obvious talents, etc.

TRADE: Patriots trade #31 to the Houston Texans for #58 and a 2013 1st round pick. Call it a hunch... I just think the Texans are going to be looking for an extra 1st round pick this year.

TRADE: Patriots trade #48 to Miami for #72 and #80.

58. Bruce Irvin, OLB, West Virginia - Could be a terror as a situational pass rusher from the linebacker position.

62. Billy Winn, DL, Boise State - Productive, fits the mold for a 3-4 DE, and fills a need.

72. Chris Polk, RB, Washington - Strong, between the tackles runner who can eat up some of the carries we lost with BJGE.

80. Brandon Washington, G, Miami - Needs some time to develop, but I'm looking at a time down the road when Brian Waters isn't around.

94. Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia - Had a down senior year, but too talented to leave him out there any longer.

128. Devon Wylie, WR, Fresno State - Yes, we have a million WRs on the roster. But does anyone think guys like Gonzalez or Branch or Ochocinco or Stallworth will stick? I don't. I think Wylie - sort of a Wes Welker Starter Kit - is a great value here.

27. Kendall Reyes
31. Trade with WAS for #39, 5th rounder, and their 2013 first.
39. Shea McClellin
48. Zebrie Sanders
62. Brian Quick/Mohammad Sanu/Greg Little - Let BB sort them out in interviews and medical history.
80-something on a trade up with 93 and the previously acquired 5th rounder Markelle Martin
~128. Dequan Menzie.

Worst. Trade. EVER. ;)

Washington Redskins trade with St. Louis Rams for No. 2 pick in NFL draft; Robert Griffin III is expected target - The Washington Post

If there was a way of getting Reyes, Barron and Hightower in the same mock draft I'd do it. I view them all as potential future starters.

27 Mark Barron - I wanted to go Reyes here, but Barron is the last safely in this class I view as a long term upgrade as general and enforcer.

31 Dont'a Hightower - Hoping he has a future outside.

48 Jared Crick - Usual 2nd round injury value pick.

64 Chris Polk - I've liked this guy for a while. Punishing inside runner that can stay on in the passing game as a receiver and blocker. Good redzone TD threat in the absence of BJGE.

93 Chase Minnifield - Again I guy I've had my eye on that is sliding down. Can also kick return.

128 - DeQuan Menzie. Versatile and physical.

Here are the six I think the Patriots draft.

Mark Barron S Alabama
Kendall Reyes DT UConn
Shea McClellin DE/LB Boise St
Josh Robinson CB Central Florida
Brandon Brooks OG Miami (OH)
Devon Wylie WR Fesno St.

Ultimately I see the Patriots making three trades down to acquire more picks ... they ultimately will get three more picks and a pick next year.

Cody Pearcy WR Huntingdon (AL)
Ron Brooks CB LSU
Adrian Hamilton LB Prairie View A & M

27 + 93 to Philly for 46 +51
31 Traded to St Louis for 39 + 97
39 Dont'a Hightower ILB Alabama
46 Shea McClellin OLB Boise St
48 Harrison Smith S ND
51 Brian Quick WR App St
62 Traded to SD for 80+111
80 Chase Minnifield CB Virginia
93 traded to Philly previously
97 Marvin Jones WR Cal
111 Derrick Wolfe DE Cincy
128 Vick Ballard RB Miss St (BJGE 2.0)

I don't see how half these guys last to the CBS ratings but it is what it is.

Absolutely agree with that statement ... inevitably, guys I like after round 1 get taken much higher than they are ranked by any of the Draft Rankings (NFL Draft Scout, Great Blue North, Pro Football Weekly etc).

I like Kendall Reyes, Shea McClellin, Josh Robinson and Brandon Brooks, and in order for the Pats to get them they would have to select them in the late 1st or 2nd round. So from picks 31, 48 and 63 I might see two of the four taken by the Pats. I hit on two last year Vereen and Cannon, but thats only because Cannon slipped to the 4th round because of his diagnosis of cancer. Vereen was taken a round earlier than expected and so wasn't Ridley. Mallett slipped because of off field concerns (Pats we lucky to get him).

trade 31 for 55 and 2013 1st
trade 98 and 128 for 89
===================

27 DE Reyes
48 OLB McClelan
55 DE Crick
62 C Jones
89 FS Martin

31 + 62 for 21 + 117 (4th)

21 - Upshaw
27 - Barron
48 - Jamel Flemming
93 - Alameda Ta'amu
117 - Marcus Forston
128 - Jake Bequette

Team still could use a starting 3-4 DE but since we can't get one we get two players who could potentially fill the role in different ways. A run stuffer in Ta'amu and a pash rusher in Forston. OLB and the secondary are greatly improved.

27. Devon Still DT
31. Dont'a Hightower LB
48. Zebrie Sanders RT
62. Billy Winn DE
94. Philip Blake C
128. Shaun Prater CB

2012 New England Patriots Draft:

#27 Kendall Reyes, DT
#31 Trade Down
#48 Shea McClellin, OLB
#62 Jamell Fleming, CB
#93 Marvin Jones, WR
#126 Cyrus Gray, RB or Tauren Poole, RB

Convert Sterling Moore to free safety.
