The media planting one seed to cause the public to hate us (again). In '01 it was the "made up" tuck rule, Kordell "better team didn't win" Stewart, and 9-11 conspiracies.

In '03 it was us getting away with murder on the lack of PI calls.

In '04 it was, "Good thing McNabb got the dry heaves."

For all three it was, "Their kicker won it for them."

Of course last night it was LT being as much of a hyporite as one possibly could be. The ****iest group of invidiuals one could assemble, complaining about US celebrating?

Yeah, I know, it's best for us to be the underdog with nobody believing in us, yadda yadda yadda.

But for once I would like to know ho it felt to be the Niners in the 80's, or the Cowboys in the Nineties. With those teams the general consensus was a lot more "These guys are great!" instead of "These guys are frauds."

So how many do we have to win to get that?

Go ahead, tell me why I'm an idiot. I shouldn't care what others think.

Whatever.

you shoudnt care what others think lol lol, everybody hates the patriots now .thats a good thing .we are the newyork yankees of football .alot of people are sick of the patriots winning .thats when you know how great the patriots have become .we are what the montreal canadians used to be.everybody hated them to.people other than patriots fans want us to lose but the patriots arent going along with the program.:rocker:

we are the newyork yankees of football .

Valid argument.

Difference being, in my view anyway, if you go to Davenport Iowa or
Moosef-ck Montana you see a lot of Jeter Jerseys and Yankees caps...And in the 80's you saw a lot of 49ers jerseys, and in the 90's you saw a lot of Cowboys caps.

How many #12 jerseys do you think you'd see?

yeah and I'm sick and tired of winning anyway - let it go, the more attention given to it the more it becomes a story

It's a combination of things I believe: the fact that everyone loves to hate the winners and that the Patriots aren't flashy. People flock to Tomlinson, Merriman, because they are flashy and fun to watch. Our two biggest names, Brady and Seymour, aren't explosive. It's why people love Mike Vick even though he's terrible, and Seymour doesn't put up the numbers because of the 3-4. The Patriots are just a tough, physical team that don't promote themselves and aren't filling up the highlight reels. The only people who enjoy them are their fans, and their style of play doesn't make any new fans. The fact that all 3 SBs were decided by 3 points is just ammo for the haters.

I'm relatively young, but I have to say that the 03 and 04 teams were the best NFL teams I've ever seen, whether they won the title by only 3 or not. In 03 we had the streak and were something crazy like 8-0 vs. teams with winning records, and in 04 we dismantled the Colts and Steelers before winning the SB by 3 (only for a garbage time touchdown). I agree it seems like no one mentions that.

This year, not so much. If the Pats take it this year, it will leave everyone scratching their heads much like the 2001 Patriots. They are not as good as 03 or 04, and they really had no business winning that game yesterday until the end. The Chargers are STACKED. But, like many predicted, if it was close at the end we would have a tremendous shot to pull it out. We did, and now we're in the position to go to Indy and advance.

The '04 team faced the hardest road to the SB of any team in history, if you use winning % of the opposition as your method of appraising teams. On top of that, Indy and Philly lost 3 extra games because they were playing scrubs.

If only NE wouldn't have left their worst coverage safety 1:1 the discussion of the '04 Pats as one of the best teams all time would be more seriously considered.

It's too bad LT thinks that way. The Chargers didn't exactly exhibit class with their regular season victory in '05. Drayton Florence, anyone?

The haters can screw themselves. The Pats move on, so should we.

thats true also but there is no grey area left with the patriots .you either love them or you hate them
and you have the band wagon factor to consider .

What's funny about all three SuperBowls and what the media conveniently forgets when they make the "each by three points margin" comment is that the Patriots had leads greater than three points in ALL of those Superbowls but let the other team back in the game. It isn't like the Patriots were behind for most of the game in those games and squeaked out a last second win.

Media hates the Patriots for two reasons...Belichick and the fact that they lack overtly talented players yet are able to beat the media annointed "great players/teams".
