According to Len Pasquarelli of The Sports Xchange, the Panthers will "definitely" listen to trade offers for Jonathan Stewart this offseason.
After signing Mike Tolbert, the Panthers quickly put out word that Stewart wasn't on the trade block, perhaps for fear of losing leverage. Per Pasquarelli, however, the Steelers could be a "sleeper" to make a run at Stewart, and "everyone" has made the Broncos the favorite to acquire the versatile, 25-year-old back. Pasquarelli does concede "there hasn't been anything serious yet."

Do you think he would make a good replacement for lawfirm? I wonder what the panthers would want?

I like Stewart. If we could get him for our 4th, I'd like that. Maybe the 3rd. I wouldn't give more than that.

I would do it provided an extension can be ngotiated to complete the deal

The Panthers are going to want at least a 2nd, and Stewart is going to want a big-money contract as a part of the trade. And my stance on that is the same as with Mike Wallace, that using both high picks and high money on one player is very rarely worth it.

I would trade Ridley and a second rounder for Stewart in a heartbeat. He's a stud dual threat at RB and still has low mileage at age 25.

Sign the beast!

We don't need any more good RB's damn it. Woodhead/Ridley/Vereen is a very talented trio, especially for a team that passes 30+ times/game. I know we haven't seen much of Ridley and Vereen but we should all be opptimistic.
Heck we even have three Fullbacks and a part-time Hernandez to throw in the mix. Isn't that enough for you people? Do you want Mike Wallace too?:D

I agree. Beleive it or not the RB I would like to see added to this group has been here forever and that is K.Faulk.

I think it is time to see What Ridley and Vareen can do.

Woodhead being the player he is provides insurance in case they cant.

Bringing Faulk gives us a backup for Woodhead and a veteran presencew to continue to work with all three. But the real key to me is that he will now be two offseasons removed from knee surgery which might give him a little bounce in the step back.

And if not K.Faulk I would like to think we could find someone at vet min to come in and do something similar.

We get into camp and find out his knees are truly shot then we go the sentimental Bruschi type thing.

PS all that said I would get excited if we traded for Stewart just dont think it is a needed investment. We made the investment last year of a 2nd and third lets see what it brings.

He'll want big money so why waste $$$? Would rather use our 'spare' cap on the defense now...

You realize we're not playing Madden, right?

Ridley in one year has a 5.1 YPC

Stewart's career YPC is 4.8

Obviously Ridley is a small sample size, but I wouldn't give up a pick and I esp. wouldn't give up big money.

Also from owning Stewart for many years in Fantasy Football :D , I can tell you he always has a nagging injury.

I'd rather spend a second round pick on a rookie RB then trade for one with the pick and give them a big contract. Jonathan Stewart is no Clock Killin' Corey Dillon.

Does anyone even have madden 12 on this forum? that trade would never even work, Ridleys rating in the game is like 77, stewarts is 85. That trade would never go down, I would like stewart, I watched him a lot when he was on oregon but I still think were good with Ridley more then him

Other than the concussions and the ankle.

Do you think Belichick runs a trade through Madden first to see if it works? Maybe next time he's hiring staff he goes looking at videogame stores instead of people with coaching or scouting experience.

Stewart is a bonafide stud......Wi all the #2s the Pats have squandered....could you really complain if you got a guaranteed stud. Dillon worked out.....but Stewart is younger and more versatile. Use a #2....it's a no brainer.....easiest way to get that balanced offense that got us that last trophy.
