I always thought he was an intriguing prospect. Have not really seen him name pop up, not a fit for the pats?

He's not really a fit for any team because he kinda just sucks.

I didn't see Gallery's name pop up until he was signed. I'm sure BB is exploring every possible move to improve this team.

Just sit back, relax and get your popcorn ready.

Can't wait for the draft!

You'd expect a 6'5", 240 pound LB who runs a 4.4 to be good in coverage or rushing the QB. In reality, all he can offer a team is run defense. He's bad in coverage and he's not a very good pass rusher.

Cousin, I appreciate your enthusiasm but 2010 Draft result was an apparition, BB will dress up in a costume draft day to look like.....BB!
You know he is going to trade down and away from the most ready talent to deal in a low end numbers game.

FA is our shot. He is better picking FAs than a mid pack Draft record that the Team really has over the last six years or so. If we get two pieces out of the Draft that will be long term starters or considered above average by NFL standards, we will have won. 17% is NFL average of success in a draft. That to me, is a little underwhelming and amounts to about two per Team gauged in a term period of three years.

That being said, we have six picks, Two should stick. I hope we get 2010 again.

What I am trying to say is at this stage nothing he does makes sense but he can make it work. He wins which is why you look the other way. He is a great coach but makes life hard on himself by making the proverbial "chicken salad".

I should not drag you down but Draft day always winds up as a disappointment the last years. His down trades have not really worked out well. More like mediocre results.

I should be optimistic and say this is the year he uses picks that have a chance to stick. I will try to keep your attitude but I still have trouble knowing maybe only two work.
Oh Well.
I hope you are right this year.

That being said no one can be that upset with his FA picks so far as a combination. I say well done. You can't get everyone but some make sense when you study them.
I say Lawson could be extraordinary here. I would take a shot but CAP might be an issue now.

I've always been a big fan of his...I remember watching him play when he was in college at NC State. I would love to see him as a Patriot, however I think he will want more money than we'd be willing to pay him. Hope it can work though.

Bill could have had him in the draft...what has changed?...I doubt he even gets a look

I thought they were going to take him in that draft, but they took Lawrence Maroney instead....

Didn't Lawson get signed by the Packers today? He's a better player than his stats lead you to believe.

I think this is probably the important and telling statement.

Although Lawson was a binky here in the 2006 draft, it didn't seem like Belichick valued him too much..if at all.

Considering the fact that he has had an underwhelming career in the NFL, which pretty much proved what Belichick saw, I don't think he'd be much of an option in the current frame of time.

Even if that were the case, marginally better than suck is JAG, and we have our fill of that in our defense. In conclusion, no, but thank you.

No. They had him for a visit though. They seem to be the only team to have shown any interest so far, so I'd guess he signs within the next day or two.

I agree that Lawson isn't quite as poor as some make him out to be, and I think he can set the edge effectively and be helpful in the run game.

His coverage is the variable that a lot of people can't seem to agree on, although I certainly don't think it's any worse than anyone we currently have.

He can't seem to rush the passer at all though, and that is where most of the posters expected him to shine. I think that adds to his bad reputation in some degree.

Don't get me started. Lawson could have has some Pro Bowls here. We took.....

Sciz, I thought I read somewhere where he actually IS pretty good in coverage. Then I checked and found that he has had 10 passes defended over the last two years. That's more that Ninko or CPace.

He's certainly at the right time of his career to show some production. But even if his athletic skills haven't matched his sack production, he seems like he'd be a positive addition to OLB corps....at the right price.

BTW- I also think adding or not adding a Lawson might have something to say about how the Pats are thinking about Cunningham's future. they might not add that kind of a cost, if they resigng Anderson and think Jermaine is getting ready to have a bounce back year and could contribute in a rotation. Just a thought

I was also going to point out the fact that while he has certainly had an underwhelming role, I did not agree that his pass coverage was quite as bad as Sciz has been pointing out.

I have actually seen reports/articles that state that it's one of his positives besides setting the edge + run support.

I decided against it b/c everyone has their own opinion about certain players, and I honestly haven't visually seen enough of his play myself to make any kind of determination.

Regardless, as some have pointed out--it would seem like a futile argument anyway, since all indications claim that Belichick is not interested, and has not been in any of the other years (including the initial draft of 2006).

DW has alot of great points here. Every year we get pumped, and BB trades down, and down some more, and into the following year. With him already trading away so many mid/late round picks for this draft, I'd be shocked if he doesn't trade down again to fill in some of those rounds, even though I don't think he should. Brady is not getting any younger. Draft the best talent NOW!
