The Adam vs. Stephen hype is already going to be stupid out of control anyway (they are ******* kickers, people!), so it's good that Gost was able to nail a playoff game winner heading into this media maelstrom.

Oh, and I'll take the distance from Gost's 50+ yarder over Adam's any day of the week. ;)

(But pls no one bring up Gost's kick out of bounds ...)

The kickoff was bad but they were scared of Turner, for good reason.

Yes - Gotti has proved that he's got the goods. Not just a game winner but a 50 yarder too. Good for him.

the rookie looked really solid. hopefully in the dome he can get a few kickoffs into the end zone.

He's earned his stripes. The 50 yarder was amazing.

The game winner was a little close for my comfort, but it went through, and that's all that matters.

Nice 50 yarder. Great to see him get the game winner, even if it was short. I felt good for the kid, with the pressure he has on him, replacing Vinatieri.

From Reiss

"Stephen Gostkowski's 50-yard field goal is the longest in Patriots playoff history. The previous long was 48 yards, by Adam Vinatieri, which happened twice (2004 AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XXXVI)."

3 for 3, two long ones and a game winner. I am more than thrilled with Gostkowski right now.

of course, if he misses one in the next game or two then this gets forgotten by the mediots.

Another Patriot I'd much rather have than another Charger going to the pro bowl, Kaeding. Kaeding is the Chad Pennington of placekickers (actually, Chad isn't that bad). Gostkowski's got one of the strongest legs in the league.

Gost has kicked great all postseason, I am glad he got this Media Hyped monkey off his back.

CONGRATS AND WELCOME TO THE PATRIOTS! That was just so HUGE for him! Way to stick it!

He had a huge game, and hit the game winner. I'm so glad he got that chance and came through.

Granted, I could barely look at the TV when he lined up for it....whew.

Nice. Hopefull he'll erase some more AVs records during his career.

well..*bleeping* felger couldnt wait to crap the party..said it was great but stakes gets higher next week when he goes against Adam V...

It's not often that you know you are witness to a single moment that will most likely dictate the course of a man's career.

GO-GO-GO-GOSTKOWSKI! That 50-yarder owned. :rocker:

I've mentioned this before, but figures it bears repeating: if he's this good now, imagine what he could do if he could spend a month or two with Doug Blevins (the coach who got AV ready for the NFL).

Far be it that I would stick up for Felger, however, the stakes ARE higher next week. That is no great revelation.

I thought 50 must be a record and came here to find out --- thanks for the pass-along, Va.

Also, didn't Vinatieri's 50-yarder yesterday need a crossbar bump, or was it a 51?

Kaeding CHOKED in the Charger playoff game against the Jets
Kaeding CHOKED in the Charger plalyoff game against the Pats
Kaeding is the "probowl" kicker. R-I-G-H-T ! KISS my derreire!
