How do you guys feel about Ridley/Vereen if BJGE walks ? Do you feel confident they can do the job ? I kind of do, but there is a big IF there, IF Vereen can stay healthy. Ridley reminds me of a young Corey Dillon (not as shifty as Dillon was as a youngster), I think he can take the pounding of 200+ carries, and if Vereen can stay healthy, 100+ carries for him.

What do you ladies and gents think ?

Is the thread title some slam at Law Firm's lack of breakaway speed?

Ridley
Vereen
Woodhead
X

If BJGE moves on, someone else will be brought in to play the role of X.

I hate projection....what i may ask you are think vareen can take 100 carries or ridley 200 carries.

vareen 14 to 100 is a tremendous jump !

Martel carter had 0 sacks last year but we all know he is good for 10 sacks next year....what do you think.

The thing is with BJGE is that he was "dependable", i liked the way he grinded north south for those 3-4 yards, and i also felt safe with the ball in his hands because he rarely fumbled.

I honestly wouldn't mind signing mike tolbert, ground and pound guy , then offset him with a dose of woodhead.

Tolbert is exactly the man I had in mind when I saw this thread. He could be an excellent replacement. Really like watching him play.

Still think BJGE stays here...

Well we can assume that Ridley will work on ball security. Hopefully Vareen will catch 30 balls out of the backfield and become the 3rd down back. Woodhead more of the change of pace and ST role. I would prefer to see BJGE back due to his reliability.

If he isn't back I would either draft a RB wouldn't spend a lot on a FA RB.

Rarely? He's *never* fumbled in the nfl.

The only think BJGE has fumbled is his sippy-cup. He reliable but hes not going to make people miss or make gamebreaking plays in the backfield. We know BJGE can handle 150-200 carries and one-cut to the hole.

We know Woody can handle 50-100 carries and after that he starts to wear down.

We have no idea what workload Ridley and Vereen can handle. Only one way to find out. Ridley seems to have the size to handle the workload and vereen does not but neither did Ray Rice. You just can't tell until the get the rock.

I think Ridley and Vereen with Woodhead can handle the bulk of the RB duties and they can add a back in the draft pretty easily.

Ridley / Woodhead / Vereen / Hernandez seems good for 350-400 carries. It's still a pass first offense. Unless Richardson free falls in the draft, or there are like no takers for Michael Bush, I'm really fine with what they have. Tolbert is a JAG as far as I'm concerned.

If BJGE gets a huge offer from another team, he is gone....I think BB told him to test the market and give the Pats the final shot at retaining him,,,If he DOES leave, BB probably signs a veteran to help out.....I don't think having Woody and a couple of second year players is in the team's best interest.

I love Ridley's potential and want to see what Vereen brings to the table...

The Pats backfield should be even better this year with a healthy Vereen and Ridley with a TC under his belt....:rocker:

I'd like to see them pick up a burner RB type, someone with return ability, like a Lamichael James or a Chris Rainey. In the lead role, I think Ridley can be 120% of BJGE -- he's bigger, faster, and catches the ball better.

Pretty much how i see it, although the draft may actually be a better option for the additional RB.

Pass first league anyways, what we have is fine with me as long as someone can be reliable and stick his head north and south for those 3-4 yards at a time. but i honestly wouldn't mind taking a burner tailback in the later stages of the round , for return ability big time!
