Connelly walk are we??? I was thinking that since Connelly filled in so well for Koppen this past year at center, that we would re-sign him. Plus, you have to love those replays of Connelly rambling like 70 yards after the fumble recovery to the red zone in 2010!! ;)

It would seem like center is one of those VALUABLE positions where you can't just draft and plug the guy in there.....maybe another FA......?

It wouldn't surprise me if the Pats let most of their free agents go. I have no expectations this offseason. BB has crushed my hopes one time to many. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the show. :)

The Patriots seem to wait until zero hour comes and goes before engaging
in serious talks with the agents.

Not sure why you are down about it, this team has been getting better not worse. And while they have a decent number of free agents of their own to deal with there is an unprecedented number of players on the market and they are in a good position for free agency and the draft. They may not get our binkies but they always seem to improve the team, especially in free agent settings like this, where they do the better job scouting all of them than their opponents; much like UDFA.

I have no idea where they are going with their plans this offseason but i really think they will be a better team come August than they were last season, and the opportunity to start getting that done starts now.

The Pats are talking to plenty of guys right now. I'm sure Connolly, Anderson, Carter, Slater, and Green-Ellis are all in that group.

Kick off return, not a fumble!

Holy crap......really? ?? I had totally forgotten that....thx 4 the correction! Either way one of the greatest run backs by an OL ever! The old BB would have had connelly catching passes out of backfield in the RZ!

Where are you getting this idea that they are getting better?!?
The Pats seemed great going into the 2011 season. Chung and Meriweather with Sanders as a fantastic backup. McCourty and Bodden as starters along with Arrington as another great backup. Wilfork, Warren and Wright/Brace/Deaderick as a solid line. Not to mention Haynesworth and Ochocinco, who were both low risk experiments, BOTH which did eventually FAIL. Then BB decided to sign every OLD DE out there, Anderson and Carter to name a few, both of which did help a minuscule amount. Carter got 3 or 4 sacks against the Jets, which really padded his stats. The offense was without a true number one receiver which obviously made it hard to win the games they lost.
The players bolded are no longer with the team.

Now its one thing to get rid of talent while you have a younger guy their to succeed him, its an entirely different thing to get rid of talent and bring in another random player and think that player will do just as good if not better. The defense was terrible because of one thing, a pass rush. Yet BB for some reason continues to address it as if it will fix itself. BB has already proven enough to me and any real TRUE Patriots fan, especially after last year. So honestly I am in no position to say anything, much like 98% others on this board. (Other than opinion)

At the end of the day, it's Belichick vs Belichick out there. If he wants to cut talented starters in hopes that their backups or newly acquired FA's will succeed there positions, he gets to deal with the consequences.

If he does not want to get a #1 WR or a top LB/DE then he has to deal with working that much harder to make sure the guys making chump change out their are in the right position to make a play, and even when they completely mess up, it's on him.

Credibility questioning started here.

sign a 37 year old center?

right...he's so Jeff Yesterday it ain't even funny...

Nah it was actually a bit funny. Jeff Yesterday :)

Anyway, he is still pretty solid and can bring some leaderskills as well right ?

yeah, he's a proven all pro veteran..the problem is he has had leg problems the last few seasons...a bad knee injury, torn calf muscles, bad hamstring injuries...no telling how much this has impacted his ability to play at a consistent level.

The eyeball test told me so, they went to the Superbowl last year with a questionable defense... there are 30 other NFL Teams that wished they were getting this much better.

Was the superbowl loss on him of or the players who made mistakes??? Bill's got big shoulders he knows every decision he makes is on him..

"chump change" is not a term that is associated with any NFL contract...

Connolly will most likely be back. If not, there are actually a decent amount of centers on the free agent market. Names like Samson Satele, Chris Meyers, and Scott Wells are on the market and all good centers.
