They have the 10th pick in the draft and $30 million to spend. They need a DE, WR, CB, and LB. If they land Coples or Floyd and spend their money wisely they easily could send the Jets and Dolphins to 3rd and 4th place.

They have $18 million more to spend than the Dolphins and $22 million more to spend than the Jets. Fitzpatrick is arguably a better QB than Sanchez or Henne ... but at least just as good. The Dolphins could pick Tannehill but he'll need a few years to give the Bills any problems.

This year the AFC East could easily be the Patriots - Bills - Jets - Dolphins.

Thoughts?

They also have far bigger holes than the Dolphins or Jets. Dolphins, IMO, are a QB away from being #2 and can probably split with us.

If they draft well and attract quality free agents to their city for fair prices they can contend...but you could say that about any team. The history for Buffalo suggests they will do otherwise.

correction: they have $30M in cap space

I don't think they have 30M in cash to spend

Two words...Ralph Wilson

Close thread

And they will squander it all like they always do.

If the "Fitzpatrick was hurt" stuff really is why he stunk at the end of the year, and if Peyton, Mighty Peyton, goes to the Dolphins, we could very well see the Jets in the AFCE cellar.

Currently they have the best QB of the 3 though so they may have more overall holes but the most important position is in better shape.

Fitz was playing real well and then he got his contract and it all went down hill but I have heard he also cracked some ribs in or about the same time as well.

Personally right now as things lie I think the Bills are the next biggest threat in the division. Things could change quickly though (Miami gets Peyton or anything else crazy for any of the three).

I really think we are head and shoulders above the division right now and if we take care of our own no reason we are not division champs once again.

Wilson has a lot more than 30M to spend. The guy's an ultra billionaire, one of the richest owners in the league.

Also, I believe there's a cap floor in the NFL now.

The problem with Buffalo is bad drafting and spending too much $$ on mediocre players. They could overpay for top talent and be more successful than overpaying for mediocre talent.

Cap floor doesn't start until after this year
Wilson is a cheap bastid

There I fixed it for you. :rocker:

For whatever it may be worth:

Twitter - Tim Graham

Buddy Nix on WGR 550, regarding Bills' aggressive free-agency philosophy: He wants to be out of the FA market by Friday.

It depends what they do with their alleged riches. They have had good draft picks for years, and presumably cap space, since they don't have any big stars, & they haven't done much with it.

The good thing is, we'll find out soon enough! Can't wait for another season to start!

Mario Williams visiting the Bills ... this thread may be valid after all.:D

Meachem's scheduled for a visit there, too.

I would love to see the Bills in the news and for Miami to get Manning.

Jets moving closer to the basement perhaps. :D

I dont think they can split with us. They just beat us for the first time in 15 games last year and even that took a lot of weird bounces to happen. I don't see that happening again for a while.

once they visit they will never sign.
