Jay Glazer: Bears trade for Brandon Marshall for two 3rds

Devin McCourty is probably breathing a sigh of relief saying... one down one more to go. He's probably hoping V-Jack end up in the NFC too. Who knows with them gone he migt start looking like a CB agian.:p

FUnny .. Bedard just tweeted: "Brandon Marshall traded to the Bears...and Devin McCourty just yelled out, "Hell yeah!""

How much money does this save them?

I believe $7.1M against the cap. They save his $9.3M salary, but have to take on the remaining $2.2M of his signing bonus.

Interesting move, now how about that other brandon? Lets reel him in

Man, if the fish whiff on Maanning their fans go from dreams of Manning, Maeshall, And Wayne all together to Matt Moore and Bess, quite the dropoff.

You mean Matt Flynn,I assume

Why do people think by trading their best offensive weapon and a top 10 receiver that the Dolphins are all of the sudden the favorite to sign 18? Strange logic

Manning is not going to a team that stinks, that's for sure. Miami minus Marshall is a crap team. Look how far the Broncos went with no QB. Denver has an outstanding D and would give us a run for our money if they ended up with Manning and Wayne. Arizona is an good option as well.

Every less elite WR that leaves the division is O.K. in my book

The Denver D was extremely overrated last year based on who they played (aka, nobody). When they played a good offensive team like the Patriots, they got lit up twice.

Miami minus Marshall in a vacuum is a crap team. Miami minus Marshall plus Manning, Wayne, and possibly Clark instantly improves that offense. Not to mention Bush is a perfect RB for Manning and that defense is better than any of his other suitors, and I don't see how anyone could be surprised if he chose them.

Nope, Moore is still the starter there and Flynn may well end up in Cleveland, who aren't trying to get Manning and have the opportunity to get something done while the fish vacillate.

Addition by subtraction for us. No Marshall and now, I'm pretty sure, no Manning.

I see it the other way. Now that Miami needs a WR it makes MORE sense for Manning to come to Miami and bring Wayne with him.

When it was discussed that Wayne and Manning could end up in Miami it didn't make sense to be with Marshall already there as the #1. With him gone now it's a much better fit.

I did forget about Wayne, but I'm still not sold on the Manning/Wayne package deal. Not to mention, Manning-to-Marshall scares me a whole lot more than Manning-to-Wayne does now.

On any individual play, I would agree with you. But over the course of a season I think Wayne would be more productive than Marshall with Manning, simply due to familiarity.

Manning doesn't play with chucklehead receivers. Also, it's not just the Marshall trade, it's the Lombardi tweet saying Miami is not in on Flynn.

They may mean nothing, but they certainly both make sense if you're looking to bring Manning in. If the Dolphins sign Wayne or Clark, it'll look even more likely.

I see what you're saying, and I don't vehemently disagree, but there are a lot of variables involved. New team, new system, outdoors, grass, age, Manning's year off ...

I still think he's going to Arizona, though.

Oh definitely, it's not black and white, but all of those factors would effect his chemistry with Marshall just as much if not more.

The Phins will probably go after Flynn. Makes sense since Philbin was his OC in Green Bay. He should know if he's a legit QB or not.

i think miami with wayne would be peyton's best scenario as an nfl fan

getting to see peyton vs brady twice a year (if peyton doesn't break down) will be a treat

Marshall's agent says he's been discussing trade with Dolphins for a while. Seemingly not Peyton-related.

interesting because there was also a report that marshall was 'blindsided' by the trade lol

Per Adam Schefter on Twitter:

"Bears WR Brandon Marshall was involved in another incident that could lead to an NFL review. More shortly at http://ESPN.com."

Makes a little bit more sense now why the dolphins were in such a rush.
