Patriots could be targeting Rams RFA WR Danny Amendola

Danny Amendola has nothing on Wes Welker for one thing he makes Wes Welker look a heck of alot faster. How do you catch 85 balls and dont even have 800yds?? Obvilously Amendola cannot break a tackle to save his life. BB we want SPEED! at WR not tortoises.

San Bradford can't look beyond 10 yards. In the last two years his 6.0 and 6.1 yards per attempt placed him 31st for QBs who qualified.

Amendola may need to work on finding soft sports in defenses or setting up receivers a little better but his QB or offensive system didn't exactly help his case.

Great insight rw...was too lazy to look it up hmmm...Amendola may be much better than regarded.*foot in mouth*

Yea Im working from home to day so I was curious....

Who knows with NFL players. My point is that any guy that catches 85 balls at this level knows what he is doing.

Physically, he is a Welker clone...

he was very productive at TT

40yd- 4.58
10yd-1.51
20yd-2.65
3 cone-6.81
20yd shuttle-4.25

Welker
40-yd-4.65
20yd shuttle-4.01
3 cone-7.01

Welker has a longer broad jump and did slightly better at the wonderlic.

Of course, we don't know his heart and determination. That is what separates WW from everyone.

Welker going to be faster next year and the year after too? So far, Welker has way outpaced his salary, I don't want to be in a position for paying him for his past, and if we sign a long term deal with him the odds start to get very good that's what will happen. One reason Seymour is gone.

How fast was Welker after he went out?

How productive are WR's at 31 and beyond?

 back at you

Welker ain't geting 9Mill a year from the Patriots in 2013.:nono:

I certainly hope not. I'd give him $19M for 3 years with a meh bonus. He could certainly do better elsewhere. I predict if he does leave, he will do poorly compared to here. I think the Pats are protecting themselves if they can't get him to sign for reasonable money. Better draft picks then nothing if they cannot get a sensible deal signed.

I agree with that being that he's a Great Slot Guy a little over 6.5Mill a year sounds just right.

Amendola might be worth a 2nd round pick if we didn't have Welker, Hernandez, Edelman, and probably Branch. Even then I'd question the value of such a move, given that the guy practically didn't play last year.

They need someone other than Gronk who can catch the ball down the field.

That's what I'm saying.

According to the Globe, the Pats offered him a 2yr-$16m deal that was pretty much guaranteed.

That tells me that the Pats think hes worth $16m over a two year period.

It also tells me that they don't know, don't expect him or aren't willing to assume the risk that he will be worth $8m in 2014.

Surprised no one has jumped to the conclusion that Amendola is plan B if they decide to jettison Welker and use the cap space elsewhere. I don't like the idea but I can see that being the thought process here.

The Pats just tagged Welker. They're not about to release him.

Edelman has never proven he can be a viable Rec in this league. Branch is a camp cut waiting to happen. Welker could be gone in a trade (I hope).

If Amendola is so bad why is he being covered with a 2nd?

In my original post in this thread I suggested both Amendola AND Lloyd be brought in, and Welker dealt, not just Amendola brought in - which wouldn't do that much on its own.

I think he means trade him. Something similar to Cassel, who was a FA and had to be tagged to deal him.

Is anybody else nervous at the idea that we might revamp our whole WR corps based on Josh McDaniels' talent assessments?

Edit: Just skimmed the story. The whole "rumor" is bogus. Curran speculated on his own analysis -- and didn't imply anything more -- and others are taking the speculation further with no reporting behind it.

Note also that this rumored interest might be a favor to Josh's guy to drive his value up.

More to the point -- when the Pats are rumored to be interested in a guy, it's very rare they do anything to squash the story. So that's an easy one for agents and so on to start if they want to.

Yeah, it would be awful to lose Chad Johnson, Deion Branch and Mr. Underwood for the likes of Demaryius Thomas, Jabar Gaffney, Brandon Lloyd and Eric Decker.

Josh knows talent. He just can't manage it.
