Huge News: Redskins trade with Rams, will have #2 pick in draft

Well let's say we lost those picks starting in 2001. We'd be without Seymour, Light, Graham and Warren. If the trade was made in 2002, we'd be without Graham, Branch, Warren and Wilfork. That's some damn good football players that were key parts of our decade of dominance. Brady is one of the best ever but that's a big part of the core gone.

You'd have Tom F'in Brady.

You make that trade every time.

Daniel Snyder has never met a draft pick he didn't want to trade away. Maybe he will trade the #2 pick for Brian Hoyer. Then he will complete the circle in turning three #1 picks into a washed up former great player.

Fixed that for you. ;)

Two firsts and a 2nd to move up four spots?

I'd be PISSED if I were a Redskins fan.

What kept trades from happening up high before (in most cases) was the extreme $$ involved in those high picks.

Now, the cost is so low, that they've become more valuable.

There's a report that says there may even be a 5th pick going to the Rams in the deal (just heard it on the radio)...

Schefter's not budged off of his original position of the 3 firsts and a second, though

I gotta say, based on this deal, how much u think Brady could bring in? If Trader Bill sees a decline in play, you know he won't hesitate to pull the trigger if the deal is right. 3 1st's for an unproven player? Good lord, give Mallett another year in the system and gimme 4 1st's and 3 2nd's and let's start the dynasty play all over again.

I'm mostly kidding, but you gotta think, this is just an insane amount to move up 4 DAMN SPOTS!!!

Maybe this is the universe balancing things back out after the Saints got raped in the trade for Ricky Williams in 1999. :)

I don't think it's that bad of a deal for the Redskins. Yes, it's only four spots but you're looking RGIII versus ??? I don't know Quniton Couples? That's a big diference. Plus, a 1st round next year is similar in value to a 2nd rounder this year, and 1st rounder in 2014 is almost like a 3rd rounder this year. In another words that's a long time to wait for those draft picks.

"Adam Schefter

Trade will not change Redskins plans in pursuing Peyton Manning. Intend to talk with and try to sign him, even if considered a longshot."

I don't think the Redskins understand how football works.

This is just PR media spin.

Manning: I don't want to play for you
Snyder: If you don't go public and ruin our leverage for RGIII then we'll pretend to still pursue even though no one will believe us.

Of course he could. But if they get him a WR he has very low bust potential. Personally I think he will be a total stud in the Shanahan offense.

Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Rick Mirer, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Heath Shuler, Andre Ware (who was supposed to change the way the QB position is played), Jeff George, etc. all had very low bust potential. Sorry, there are no guarantees with draft prospects even second overall picks.

He could be a total stud, but he does have some red flags with his height, mechanics, and slight frame that could hinder him at the Pro level. Besides, I am not that enamored with Shanahan who was mostly a product of having Elway.

Throw in Patrick Willis and you have a deal!!!

lol, the new season hasn't started yet and the owners/gms are already getting antsy. That's a great haul for the Rams.

Jeebus, based on that trade, I have to think Mallet is worth at least two #2's right now!

Thanks, I'm well aware of the list. I didn't see all of them play in college and I know the Big 12 is short on defense but I'll be very surprised if this one fails. Arm strength, accuracy and smarts.

Typical Snyder. That's what the Redskins have been saying over a decade now.

So let me get this straight moving up 4 spots in the 1st round is worth 2 1st rounders, a 2nd rounder and a 5th????

That Daniel Snyder really knows how to drive a team straight into the ground.

It's hilarious watching the poor lemmings over at Extremeskins.com do their old GroundHog day act. They're ecstatic.

we now know the skins are out of the peyton sweepstakes! Damn, rams are set!
Not unless they hit on they're picks, if they would that good they wouldn't be picking in the top ten year after year.

It is more than I thought they would get but it really depends how the Redskins do as the picks are far out.

The get a #2 this year, #1 in 2013, #1 in 2014. What is the value of that ?

In today's dollars I think the #1 in 2014 is worth, at most, a mid #2 this year. In other words I think Belichick could pick up the phone and deal that Raider #2 for a 2014 #1 if he wanted to. I think the 2013 #1 is worth a high #2 with the same reasoning.

So in today's dollars I think they got two high #2s and a mid #2 as picks 1 and 2 years out are devalued somewhat. It's a nice deal but when you hear "3 #1s and a #2" they aren't all this year and that changes the values. The X factor, of course, is if the Redskins suck the next two years, if so then the Rams really win.

Very happy for the Rams... they played it smart and can load up on young top-end talent.

The Redskins just seem impatient, like the idiot Raiders. Its my opinion that no team is rookie away from winning a Super Bowl. Granted, the Skins have a good defensive front and have some talent on the offensive line, but their top receiver is Moss and Fred Davis, maybe Cooley.

If they draft well in the late rounds, they could surround RG3 with some talent and get this team going... assuming RG3 is the real deal.
