All depends on what scheme BB would like to run as the base next year. If it's a 3-4, Carter and Anderson don't fit as well. I'd still expect to sign one of them for the sub packages, but Wimbley (in theory) would fit better at 3-4 OLB.

Fair point. But I thought Anderson was solid as a 34 OLB at the end of the year.

And Carter was just such a beast all around it's hard to pass him up if he's willing to come back for cheap. The guy was our best defensive player all year, Vince included. We didn't really see how Carter fared in the 34 as much, but it wouldn't matter for half the downs anyway.

I would rather have Ninkovich and Cunningham as OLBs in the 34 base, with Carter and Anderson as sub package DEs than have Wimbley in both roles. In fact I think we are stronger BOTH in base and sub that way, providing Carter is 90% of his preinjury self.

I'll admit I'm going with a fairly limited knowledge of Wimbley, as I do most players that don't play for the Pats (and thus I don't see on a regular basis). I'm basing my opinion more on Carter and Anderson as 3-down players, which they definitely are not in a 3-4.

And I'm hopeful the Cunningham will turn out well in the end too, but right now we have one semi-promising year (for a rookie anyway) and one injury laden question mark year. This is an important camp for Jermaine to show he can take the next step and be a starter.

Sounds like this guy is going to have the Chargers pursuing him, as well as Michael Bush too.

Meanwhile, the Raiders restructured deals with Huff and Seymour. Deals that turned millions of dollars this year into bonus money in the following years. Raiders fans are dumb enough to think that this is a great deal for them, but they'll be surprised when they are back in the same cap hell next year with both those guys.

He played well in the base as a rookie. No reason to believe he won't again just because he didn't play much last year because we played a different defense and had an probowler in the spot he would have played, and he was injured. If oyu would rather have Kameron Wimbley playing OLB in the base trying to defend the run, your wagon won't have any wheels left on it.

That sure as hell isn't going to happen.

This team had their chances at taking him already, a couple of yrs ago. They passed then when the compensation was a lot less. I don't see how they'd even remotely consider it now, when his asking price is practically outragous now.

I definitely agree that he's not a 3 down player.

I've said it before, but again...it cracks me up at how many posters here don't want a guy for much lessened compensation, and then a couple yrs later they now want him when we have to pay millions and millions more dollars. I've seen this happen with so many players. Wimbley, Lloyd, D'Quell Jackson are 3 players I can think of just this year alone.
