What if Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne sign with Miami. How concerned should we be?

After all, that could be a pretty potent offense with Manning, Bush, Marshall & Wayne. Not too mention a poor man's Welker in Devone Bess.

They would probably become a formidable foe. If that was the case the Pats would have to shore up some of their weaknesses on defense to ensure victory twice a year. They aren't very far away.

The Dolphins suddenly become very potent, and Bess suddenly has much better numbers. Manning could potentially bring Pierre Garcon and Jeff Saturday with him as well, though the Colts would be fools of the first order not to resign Saturday.

I'm not sure that this phase of his career will be phenomenally successful. He has to jell with a new team, and his skills are teetering on the precipice of mortality. Also, he is one decent hit away from the broadcasting booth! He will have his moments, like Favre had, but it will not end well. It never really does...unless you're John Elway. Let's hope that's how Brady goes into the sunset.

If Manning and Wayne sign in Miami it gives the 'Fins on paper a pretty good O to go along with a good D. But who knows if Manning will ever be the same player he was.

If they sign with the 'Fins I think the Pats need to do 2 things (which they should do anyways)

1) Re-sign Welker and add a WR who can stretch the field. We may be in some shoot outs with the 'Fins so a deep threat WR will help the offence. If we go after Mario Williams we may not have $ for a FA WR so one our 1sts go to the WR position.

2) Shore up the Defense. Manning at full health would have torched our D last season. Mario Williams would be great and hopefully we can sign him. Use the draft to add talent to the secondary. We need a physical corner to match up with B. Marshall. He abused McCourty last year.

Probably not that hard. Manning essentially would run the offense and tell the coaches where he would need help. I'm sure in his case it would be a matter of the team adjusting to Manning's way of doing things instead of vice versa.

well they would be 10 times better than the jets and bills and would be a challange to us for the division... so with fa and the draft the pats will need 2 more wr and also 2 decent to good pass rushers and a shut down corner and a solid saftey... if manning goes to miami which is a pretty much a forgone conclusion... and reggie wayne.. belichick needs a 07 offseason because he will prob be up against manning for 3 good years with brady and let the chips fall where they may..​

They would be a though opponent, but still not on the level that the Ravens and Houston will be next season. Besides the Dolphins' cap situation is not as good as the Pats (approx. $15MM under) Even with restructures, cuts, and "rollovers" from last season, they'd have a hard time getting Manning done, let alone Wayne and any others. If they managed to do it, they'd have a scary starting 22, but little behind it. Sort of like a Jets south.

Where he goes is up to Manning. He could do the unthinkable and do play for a poultry $6MM/year just to help his new team out. God knows he doesn't need the money. He needs the rings.

It took him a while to get it operating at high efficiency in Indy. It will take longer in a new setting because there will be guys who have to unlearn everything they've known and start over from scratch. And they will have to be precise above all else. There is the risk that by the time they get it running seamlessly, if ever, it will be time for him to go. And where will that leave them... That will be Philbin's concern in Miami. He's got 3 years to prove he's the rght man for the job, and if Manning comes in Philbin won't be in control of his offense and maybe even his roster... But he can't really buck Ross because what he wants is fannies in seats, Peyton's specialty.

Wisenhut may have a problem with that, although he's accommodated a veteran in the past and it worked out for both of them. Shanny and his kid will have that problem, but they have no at present and the alternative is trading up for RGIII or settling for an also ran later in the first. Shanny may already be on a short leash. And he did win with Elway in his dotage (and not since). And he knows that buys you years of leeway. Pete really has nothing in Seattle and he's inching into must win territory. He's a defensive HC so he might be fine with Manning running the offense. And they have the cap and cash to add to it.

Anywhere he lands it's going to be that team accommodating him. It's also liable to be a process especially out of the gate. He hasn't played in a year, whole new environment and cast of characters to build rapore with, **** happens, so who knows. I'm not really concerned. I like our chances whomever is playing in the division...

Manning will eat up an absurd amount of Miami's cap space, so the Dolphins' depth will be questionable. Manning will probably not last the season - he's immobile to begin with and the defenses in the AFC East are good and aggressive. Good luck with that. If he gets hurt, the Dolphins implode and everybody gets canned for taking a stupid risk.

Ask yourself this question: how did the last over the hill quarterback legend in the division work out? Bret Favre was a sideshow with the Jets, messed up their development of younger talent and wound up embarrassing the franchise.

Ask yourself another question: where else would you want a 37-year-old quarterback trying to recover from four - count 'em - four neck surgeries?

I'd rather see Manning lurching around on Miami than Matt Flynn from Green Bay.

Personally, I think that no matter what, or who plays QB for the Dolphins this yr, that they overtake the Jets for 2nd place.

They will most likely get a 1/2 way decent QB in FA or the draft, and have the potential to have a much better team than the Jets, now that Sparano is gone.

I have felt that MIA would be close to a 9-7/10-6 team this yr for awhile now.

Most just assume that it will be the Jets battling us for the division, but I disagree.

The Jets just look like they have lost their way. Miami may well pass them with or without Manning.

The Colts were not just Manning, but rather were an offense built around Manning that had significant time to develop. Throwing Manning and Wayne on the Dolphins will not turn that offense into the Colts in a reasonable period of time. A better offense than it is now? Yes. A great offense? I doubt it.

If their transition from a 4-3 to a 3-4 goes smoothly they could be pretty damn good with Manning. Likelihood that happens? Not so sure it's very high. They haven't really got the pieces for a 4-3 defense right now!

They certainly have some capable players there on both sides of the ball. MIA looked pretty good at times last yr, and made a real nice turnaround for the second half of the season.

I'm not sure about their specific schemes and fronts, but their defense has some potential to at least be competitive.

It may not be Manning, but I think they'll make their QB situation much better one way or another.

They may only finish 9-7 or something, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that they will compete better than the Jets; who very well may end up staying the same as they were this yr.

If Manning goes there, then I think they are a whole lot better pretty instantly.

Then they'll be significantly improved, presuming Peyton is still effective (which he probably will be). They already have a much better defense than New England does, and they'd have some serious offensive weapons with Peyton, Wayne, Marshall, Bess, and Bush.

Yes, they'd be a very real threat to the AFCE title.

Miami has been projected or predicted to be a serious threat since Saban landed there. Then of course their was the Tuna turnaround... They did manage to take the division when Brady was on IR in week 1 of 2008, by a hair. I think who their QB is and who their HC is and what scheme they're running and who they draft matters a lot less when all is said and done than who our QB and HC are.

I wouldn't want this current Defense to face any Offense with Peyton Manning behind Center. His little Brother who is not even in his league carved up our Defense Three times already. If Peyton goes to Miami it wouldn't be good for the Patriots...they have a Team that needs veteran stability at QB. Peyton and Miami would be a Pefect match...the Patriots current Seconary should be.:scared:
