Ohhh the life of a top 10-12 pick.

go troll somewhere else please, there's posters who are putting time into this. No need to ruin good discussion (as you're doing already in various other places).

Found a link that mentions the New England Patriots will be attending the Missouri Pro Day today (along with Atlanta, New York Giants, San Francisco, and St. Louis).

Unfortunately I can't link it but it's on Atlanta.sbnation

Could they be looking at DE/OLB Jacquies Smith?

Scouts still flock to Mizzou pro day

Representatives from 16 NFL teams — or half the league — including two scouts from the Rams are on hand Thursday for Mizzou’s pro day. Among the other teams on hand: Super Bowl participants, the New York Giants and New England, and 2011 season playoff teams Atlanta, Green Bay and San Francisco.

A total of 16 Tigers are participating, including Mizzou’s four NFL scouting combine participants: tight end Michael Egnew, defensive tackle Dominique Hamilton, wide receiver Jerrell Jackson and defensive end/linebacker Jacquies Smith. Because those four are just a few days removed from the combine, their participation will be limited.

Egnew, projected as a mid-round pick, probably is the most highly-regarded in the group, although Smith is attracting interest as a potential 3-4 outside linebacker.

For others, such as wide receiver Wes Kemp and linebacker Luke Lambert, it’s a chance to get noticed and maybe work their way into late-round or rookie free agent status.

The only other participants I found listed elsewhere were LS Bo Brinkley, OL Austin Wuebbels and OL Dan Hoch. Looking at CBS Sports prospect rankings the only other players they list are DT Terrell Resonno (their #46 DT, #614 overall); TE Andrew Jones (#37 TE, #691 overall); ILB Will Ebner (#31 ILB, #695 overall); and WR Jermaine Saffold (#82 WR, #618 overall). Egnew (rounds 3-4) and Smith (rounds 5-6) are the only players from Missouri that they project being drafted.

Tony Pauline also had this report:
Sports Illustrated | Tony Pauline | 03/01 Pro Days

Tight end Michael Egnew, as well as receivers Jerrell Jackson and Wes Kemp, all looked good in pass-catching drills. Jackson, who ran in the upper 4.5s at the combine, will run the 40 on March 15, when Missouri has its second pro day.

Offensive linemen Austin Wuebbels and Dan Hoch both impressed. Wuebbels, a three-year starter at guard, completed 40 reps on the bench press, receiving applause from scouts.

Hoch measured 6-6½ and 320 pounds. His 40 time of 5.25 was adequate while many were impressed by his short shuttle time of 4.73, a mark which would've placed him in the top half of offensive linemen at the combine.

Tight end Michael Egnew, Missouri's top tight end prospect, is still struggling with a tight hamstring which came about during the combine. He will wait until March 15 to better his time of 4.62 seconds in the forty from the combine. Egnew did participate in the broad jump, measuring 11-feet, 4-inches, which was a five inch improvement from Indianapolis. His vertical jump of 37.5 inches today bettered his combine number by 1.5-inches.

Receiver Wes Kemp, who entered the season with late round grades yet was not invited to the combine, gave scouts a lot to think about today. The 6-foot, 3.5-inch receiver who tips the scales at more than 220-pounds completed 22 reps on the bench press then posted times as fast as 4.46-seconds in the forty.

Godsey left with BoB to Penn St.

He was rumored to be leaving. But, Godsey is still with the Pats. Supposedly, Brady put in a good word for him and Pats kept him. PSU hired Charlie Fisher as their qb coach. Was at Vandy for a while then Miami Oh. Pa. native.

Put an "I" next to the name of Darius Fleming, an OLB from Notre Dame.

NFL combine interview with Patriots bodes well for Darius Fleming - Chicago Sun-Times

The New England Patriots were among the teams that invited Fleming to a secondary interview at the combine last week in Indianapolis.

‘‘It was a very cool experience,’’ Fleming said of his visit with the Patriots. ‘‘He’s a great guy. I really look up to him. I appreciate his coaching style. That’s somebody who I would love to play for.’’

‘‘It was pretty much the same stuff — a lot of background questions,’’ Fleming said. ‘‘There were a couple of football questions at the end [of his interview with the Patriots]. But the biggest thing was character.’’

That played to Fleming’s strength. Several players spent much of their interviews with the teams and the media explaining youthful indiscretions. Fleming zipped right through that part.

CB Ryan Steed Furman I
The Senior Bowl went great. I played well and increased my stock I feel like. I met with about 20 teams. To name a few I met with the Dolphins, Jaguars, Falcons, Texans, Packers, Colts, Patriots, Redskins, Buccaneers, Panthers, and several others. I pretty much talked to majority of the teams in the league.

Not quite sure what to call this but found this on Twitter

#Gophers TE Eric Lair took a personality test from the #Patriots, also met with #Jaguars and #49ers scouts.

He's projected as a UDFA but has the size to potentially also be tried out at FB.

Charles 4.7-4-88 in 40 at windy UGA pro day - CBSSports.com

Every NFL team was represented at the workout except for Dallas and Chicago, according to Georgia's sports information staff.

So that means that somebody from the Pats organization was at Georgia's Pro Day on Monday.
NFL prospects would include:

  • - G Cordy Glenn
  • - CB Brandon Boykin
  • - TE Orson Charles
  • - C Ben Jones
  • - P Drew Butler
  • - K Blair Walsh
  • - DL DeAngelo Tyson
  • - FB Bruce Figgins
  • - TE Aaron White
  • - OT Justin Anderson

Found this on mndaily.com about the Minnesota Pro Day...

"Defensive lineman Anthony Jacobs turned in a solid enough performance that the Patriots issued him a questionnaire when his workout concluded.

Jacobs unofficially ran a 4.70-second 40-yard dash and had a 35-inch vertical leap. He benched 225 pounds 26 times."

He was listed at 6'2" 291 on his college bio and early on in his career he played DE before playing DT in 2011.

Courtesy of ramcigar.com evidently scouts from the Patriots and Chiefs were on hand at the Rhode Island Pro Day

"Among the defensive backs it was (Evan) Shields who stepped up the most. Shields had a dozen reps in the weights, had a solid vertical jump, and clocked a blistering, although unofficial, 4.39 second 40-yard dash.

Ronnie McGill, a scouting assistant for the New England Patriots, said that he was looking to find a local diamond in the rough yesterday.

'[I'm] just out here looking at some of the local guys and getting their numbers down,' McGill said. 'We'll go through the basics, and if someone has better than expected numbers we'll take an extra look at them."

RavensInsider Kent State center Chris Anzevino worked out for scouts from the Patriots, Dolphins, Steelers, Browns and the Colts today.

Anzevino turns in strong Pro Day. 5.1 40-yard dash, 36 reps, 31.5-inch vertical leap:

According to ESPN's live blog of the Alabama Pro Day

12:11 p.m. - Scouts from the Jets, Texans, Patriots, Titans, Jaguars, Chargers, Steelers, Redskins, Panthers, Seahawks, Saints and Bengals on hand.

Also note that Trent Richardson (knee), Mark Barron (double hernia) and Courtney Upshaw (knee) all did not participate.

Found this on an article on rrstar.com related to the Northern Illinois Pro Day Workout... The biggest name there is QB Chandler Harnish.

"There were scouts from the Packers, Patriots, Colts, Chiefs, Cardinals, Seahawks and Titans on hand for the NIU pro day, which started in the Huskies’ weight room and moved out on to the field just before noon."

The Pats were definitely at Lee Smith's Pro Day. I linked to it in another thread.

Before the draft, I was convinced Pats were drafting Bailey because of all the contact. (Though I later had some doubts when someone posted some game film showing how slow he was off the line.) It seems to me that a lot of reported interest is probably a smokescreen.

I doubt that Bailey was a deliberate smoke screen; BB is too busy for that. Bailey is immensely strong but slow both physically and maybe mentally. The later may have been what the Patriots were trying to evaluate and maybe they were not satisfied.

The Patriots were one of four NFL teams represented with scouts at the University of Massachusetts Pro Day today in Amherst.

New England scouting assistant Ronnie McGill was on hand, along with scouts from the New York Jets (Scott Cohen), Atlanta Falcons (Robinson Payne) and Pittsburgh Steelers (Dave Petett).
