According to NFL.Com, TB is the likely landing spot for Manningham because of them signing the Former Giant's coach.

Beats him staying with the Giants.

We should have drafted him. As a matter of fact, the thread starter was one of the people that blasted me for even mentioning it prior to that draft because of the way '07 went down with the WR position.

TB is going to be taking lots of people from FA..lots

Manningham? i dont know, i dont like him that much. I'd rather have Bowe or VJ.

Manningham is the very definition of mediocre. On the list of players we should have drafted, I reckon he's not anywhere close to the top of the list.

he's very inconsistent -- can make great grabs, then drops very easy balls. He'd drive Pats fans crazy if he were a WR we were relying on.

Not to mention the fact that he got a 6 on the Wonderlic...which calls into question his ability to perform rudimentary tasks, like dressing and feeding himself.

After the way the 2007 season went down with the WR Position? You mean with the Pats adding Randy Moss and Wes Welker prior to the 2007 season? The same record breaking season where the Pats went 16-0 during the regular season and were one blown call away from winning the SB?

You seem to be confused, Kontradiction. Manningham was drafted in 2008, not 2007. The Pats had Mossk, Welker, and Gaffney as their top 3 WRs in 2008. Where would Manningham have fit?

BTW, Everyone and their brother told you "NO" on Manningham. Not just me. Funny how you completely ignore that..

This is a gem...

Why would they bring in Manningham when they have Chad Jackson?

As for using a pick on Mcfadden, that's even more laughable than drafting Manningham.

Chad Jackson was off the team the very next year and McFadden has become one of the best all purpose threats at RB in the NFL.

As for the rest of your post, yes... the way the 2007 season went down at WR. You used that as a tool for blasting me for even suggesting that taking Manningham in 2008 was a good idea. As for "where would he have fit", isn't our head coach all about drafting the best player available and not need? In the thread in question and in this thread, you're using "need" as a counter argument when this team doesn't draft for need and never has under Belichick. In the end, Manningham would have been great as a Patriot, would have been had in the third round, and would have had the opportunity to ride the pine in 2008 before he saw his playing time increase across from Moss in '09 where our own head coach was even recorded as saying that if the opposition controlled Moss and stopped Welker, we were doomed. As for "everyone and their brother", those people aren't in this thread.

By the way, I know I come off as a **** in that thread. Sorry about that. I was somewhat of a newbie back then and had a chip on my shoulder. Also got a good laugh out of attacking your post count when I now have 17,000+ posts. :ugh:

He didn't look too mediocre when he hauled in a bomb vs. double coverage in that one Super Bowl...

The only receiver we missed in the third round was Mike Wallace.

Manningham is okay, but certainly wouldn't be the answer for our problems. He's a faster, more inconsistent version of Branch. Best friend is a Giants fan and the guy hopes Manningham goes somewhere else because he commits just as many mistakes as big plays.

After that 38 yard catch, Manningham ran the wrong route for instance.

If only one play made a career.

It doesn't. But being a Super Bowl hero doesn't hurt either. As for his career, it hasn't been all that bad considering he's essentially been the third option on the Giants since he came into the league. 160 receptions and 18 touchdowns.

No way he could come here ... he's expecting #1 money and the best he could be here is #4 because he's not better than Welker, Gronk, or hernandez in the production department. If Bill wants to bring in a new #4 he will get paid #4 receiver money that is slotted by Belichick.

I don't want him here either. He'll want too much money and Brandon Lloyd would come cheaper and has had success in the system. I'm just making a case for how he could have helped.

One way he definitely could have helped was NOT catching that key pass, Kontra ;)

No doubt about that one.

You are doing no such thing. You are using hindsight in an attempt to justify your thread from 4 years ago where everyone and their brother told you that you were stupid for wanting to take Manningham in the 2nd round.

http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...m-available-second-round-do-you-take-him.html

Hell, at the time, when you started that thread, you had to be corrected on his height and speed because you didn't know jack about him.

Sorry, but that hasn't changed one bit. And there is absolutely nothing you can provide that says that Manningham would have been successful in the Pats system.

Oh, as for this idea that Manningham was essentially their third option the entire time, that's BS. Manningham was their #2 WR in 2009 and 2010. He also started off 2011 as their #2 and got pushed aside by Victor Cruz. But, don't let facts get in the way of your story.

P.S. BTW, I loved how your attempt to insult me in that thread 4 years ago was to make fun of how many posts I had. What would that say about you now?

Living in NYC, I've always liked the guy and thought he carried himself well, in contrast to the clown parade of the Jets. Too bad he was "no Chad Jackson."

I wish him well and hope he cashes in on that catch. Consistently good players who make big plays on the biggest stage and at the most important times deserve to do so.
