Has an agent ever said their client is behind schedule from rehabbing from an injury?

Carter's agent says veteran ahead of schedule with rehab - Extra Points - Boston.com

Carter doing well. Injury not career or physical threat to performance. Wants to play in 2012. Lover the Patriots. Nobody contacting him as yet.

Nobody other than the Patriots can contact him until March 13th... What Poston said was that he'd been in contact with the Pats and the Pats were interested in bringing Carter back, but that contract stuff at this time was premature..

If we do resign Carter, you have to wonder what scheme we'll run, 4-3 ,3-4, both?? All I know was the year before when he was in Washington, Carter was not so great in the 3-4.

New England runs more plays out of sub packages than out of the base, so even a 3-4 base that didn't involve Carter would allow for Carter to be in for the majority of snaps.

He should wear #55 as he is the closest thing to Big Willie we have seen since 2006. Also, Carter had 10 sacs in 12 games…on pace for almost 14 on the year which is probably the best any Patriot can lay claim to since another Andre played in the box for us.

Forget the scheme…the man is a beast.

Could have done with him in Indy. Hope he comes back.

Resign the beast.

Agreed - would be great to have him back. He would have been great in Indy.....

Yes. 1-2 yrs. He is better than the bust rookie, Cunningham...

It's sad, I don't know what happened to him. I know he got injured, but when he did play, it was almost like he was non-existant.

Another thing though, if we do resign Carter, I do think he should still play DE, 4-3 or 3-4. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not calling Carter slow or anything, but i think if we go back to becoming primarily 3-4, We need to draft a guy that's young, and fast. In fact, heres what I'd want for our defense if it ran 3-4 front seven

NT-Wilfork/Love
DE-Andre Carter, Draft pick/or FA, Deaderick
OLB- Draft pick, Ninkovich, Anderson if he comes back, maybe a FA
ILB- Mayo, Spikes

Carter, Anderson, and Moore(not sure if he's under contract for 2012) all need to be brought back on D.

Carter is terribly small for a 34 DE.
IF he came back, and I have serious doubts he can come back from a severe leg injury at his age and not lose a step or steps, his best role is to play in sub packages.
Now I could certainly see adding DE in a base 34 to that against a pass heavy team, providing you have him on the same side of the field as Spikes and Ninko rather than with the pass rushing type OLB you are looking to add.
In a perfect world, Id like to see Carter playing about 60% of the snaps with 90% of those 60% being pass plays.

Cunningham actually had a good rookie year. He was injured for most of 2011 and his competition for playing time after we abandoned the 34 was Andre Carter. There is no shame in being beaten out by a veteran the caliber of Andre Carter the way he played this year. If anyone who could get beaten out by Caters probowl level play this year is therefore a bust, there are about 1500 busts in the NFL.

I'm sure they will draft a DE/OLB. But, past Patriots drafting at this position was poor at best (save for Seymour, but he was drafted 6th overall)...

Would love to see Carter back with the Patriots. Anderson too for that matter.

Sterling Moore is under contract. Even if he wasn't he'd be an ERFA.

Umm.. You need to be more specific. Are you talking about a 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 OLB?

You'd be correct if you were referring to a 4-3 DE/ 3-4OLB type player in that the Pats have been poor. Though they haven't drafted all that many. For 4-3 DE/ 3-4 OLB they've had Jeremy Mincey, Tully Banta-Cain, Ryan Claridge, Shawn Crable, Jermaine Cunningham, Markell Carter (jury is still out).

However, the Pats have had very good success with 3-4 DEs. Besides Seymour, they have had Ty Warren (as Deus pointed out), Jarvis Green, Lekevin Smith, Brandon Deaderick, Kade Weston.
