.....Brian Ferentz has left to rejoin his dad at Iowa as OL coach.

We've lost a terrific coach and a terrific coaching prospect. Hopefully he'll be back one day.

Maybe they bring Nick Caserio down to work with GRONKnandez. After all, he didn't do too badly as WR coach in 2007. . . .

I think George Godsey is the one likely to step up, and we'll probably bring in another bright young thing from the College world, and from a program BB has ties with in some way.

Bummer. Enjoyed the recent ESPN article posted here about him.

Congrats to him. He will either be back here as OC someday or HC at Iowa when his dad calls it quits. He's a lucky/deserving kid to be able to work in two programs that are the class of their respective leagues.

You think Iowa is the class of the BIG? Sorry, but that made me lol..

Part of me wonders if, with McDaniels back in the fold, he figured that his ceiling in the organization was pretty low. Whether or not that's the case, though, good for him. The more ex-Pats coaches in the college ranks, the better.

Pats and BB having their own personal insiders in the college ranks can't hurt.

Sometime I wonder what the Pats scouts
are thinking when they turn in their super can't miss player reports while BB and the crew are assembling their draft board.....

I think he's back as the OC in a few years when McDaniels gets another shot at being a HC. From all accounts, he's got the potential to be a special coach.

Probably looking ahead too far, but how would he look as the next Head Coach of the New England Patriots in like 10 years?

Well, it's kinda hard to argue against that, seeing as a 28-year-old just spent the last two years coaching up two rookies into the best 1-2 punch at TE in the league, by far. . . .

Maybe he's figuring, "coach these guys? Really? Okay, here's my big accumulated wisdom... Gronk, don't get injured. Other than that..."

But seriously... it's got to feel okay to go while the position is at an "upgrade" point, rather than if you were the TE coach and people saw (for example) Ben Watson, the always tantalizing never-quite-there result, as your "most recent product."

Not that I didn't love Ben catching Champ Baily from behind... but the productivity from the TEs has just been amazing... here's to going out on top. Hope we'll see him again.

Good point. I would agree with this. My other thought was that he's probably going to take over that program at some point..

I knew Brian was a goner in the NE coaching staff when I passed by his home last week and there was a 'Ferentz sign' posted on the lawn.

Sorry, someone had to do it :bricks:
