Defense in Focus: Decisions Must Be Made
By: Derek Havens

Even though the New England Patriots were in the Super Bowl, the team still needs to fill holes and upgrade their roster during the off-season. Along with the other 31 NFL clubs, the Patriots' front office will be looking to improve the team for the 2012 ...

This will be a flawed team again without better defensive talent and a more balanced offense.

The NFL's supposedly best coach, BB the defensive " genius ", is considerably more average in the Superbowl, without enough talented players on defense, and an offense that cannot control the clock.

Another Superbowl loss would put him at 3-3 with the Pats. I wonder if Kraft will start thinking of going in another direction if that happens.

I doubt it. Much better to be 3-3 than 0-0. Currently, standing at 3-2 and those two losses could easily be two wins with a different bounce of the ball

To play devils advocate, he could also easily be 0-5 with a different bounce of the ball. I think that shows how small the margin for error can be in these things. As long as BB is putting this team in a position to win these games, I don't think you can be too upset with him. Sometimes the ball goes your way, sometimes it doesn't.

Me thinks olschool flunked out of 3rd grade. Belichick is the best coach in football. The Pats have been in 5 Super Bowls in 11 years and you want to get rid of him if he makes it to another one but loses? My lord.

Agree with the article. I think our personnel fits the 3-4 better. Mayo and Spikes are outstanding as a tandem in the 3-4. Have one great NG in Wilfork. And, another good young one in Kyle Love. I'd like to sign in free agency the following; 2-gap de, olb and fs. Maybe K. Langford, M.Anderson and R. Nelson or M. Griffin. Would love to sign Mario Williams but he's going to be very expensive. Then, in the draft I'd like a 2gap de with 1a(F.Cox,D.Still or M.Brockers) and am willing to trade up. An olb/de with 1b like N.Perry/V. Curry/A. Branch/C. Jones. A safety in the 2nd like Iloka from Boise. And, a depth cb in the 3rd.

Haha yup I thought of that as well, but wanted to stay positive

That would have taken miraculous bounces against the Rams and Eagles.

Methinks that even a third grader would know not to put good money after bad.

Kraft has made BB the highest paid coach in football, and I imagine that he expects better results than what's happened lately.

Or maybe, who knows, he might be getting used to losing the big one.

Maybe you should talk to some other fanbases who would each give up five years of their life just to see their team play in the Super Bowl.

I'm way past the " just happy to be there " stage. That was 1985.
