I like the name "The Two Napoleons"

"Forclosed" or "Reposessed." This can happen if we can get people to stop going there. I can say I'll never go there...

You're right in that it's really the only way to fight back. Good old Stevie is going to be right back next fall on WEEI, Comcast, WBZ-TV as if nothing ever happened. The vast majority will forget or move on to other causes and Stevie will be chuckling to himself how he put another one over on the local yokels. But, I'll remember and as soon as I see his face or hear his voice, the channel or station will get changed

you can immediately impact major media opinion by leaving daily whines on the whiner line, just like callers did when they'd call in and leave a whine that mentioned Fred + Steve's...they used to yuk it up and tell Andy to play those calls...well now, if a huge percentage of callers leave a negative opinion with their whines, it WILL get noticed...and the more the sentiment to NOT patronize their establishment spreads among area fans the sooner the bottom line at their restaurant will reflect it..I've been there...meh...not a reason to even hassle going to Lincoln IMO...and big steak joints are plentiful in the southern N.E. area.

DeOssie wants to openly sh!t on southern New Englanders?...fine....he'll strangle on his giant cigar while the place gets stinkbombed into the stone age.

I know I have mentioned Buckley a few times in threads that are mainly about DeOssie. While DeOssie was well over the line of veiled contempt for New England fans Buckley in his effort to defend DeOssie obliterated the line.

I don't know that I can think of another media personality anywhere at any time that lashed out such that the rawest edge of his contempt for his audience was laid out there completely untempered.

While I won't listen to or watch DeOssie again I simply can't listen to or watch Buckley again. I can say that DeOssie was foolish, disrespectful of his New England friends, neighbors and media associates and contemptuous of his audience. Buckley is for me downright scary at this point.

I cannot bring myself to come to terms with Buckley. As surprised as I am at Buckley's comments I am equally surprised that no media representative has come forward to distance himself from Buckley's comments. Buckley leaves us in the very uncomfortable position of no longer being able to guess at how contemptuous the Boston media is of us. We are no longer left with the comfort of being able to give them the benefit of a doubt. Instead we are left with the stark reality of knowing the depth of their contempt for us. That is a very uncomfortable place to be because there is nothing so important about sports commentary that says to me I need to deal with somebody that holds me in such contempt.

I don't know why some fans are giving Smerlas a free pass here.

Smerlas was called by DeOssie to join him at the Giants party celebration after the game and Fred DID GO.

When asked on Comcast tonight after the Super Bowl why he was looking so tired, on that telecast Fred said he had joined DeOssie at the Giant party until 4am.

Just as guilty IMO

Meh, going over to a pregame Giants rally UNPAID, gorging on free food and drink and keeping your mouth shut, er, well not speaking, is not the same as what DeOssie did.

I would have done that just for grins.

Even taking into consideration his position as an analyst, Smerlas was just observing the mood of the Giants fans.

Funny, before all this I liked DeOssie better, as Smerlas appeared to have a degree from the Menino school of public speaking.

If you had been invited to a Giants' victory party at the Super Bowl, would you have gone?

Fred gets a pass here. He never threw anybody under the bus the way Fredo DeOssie did.

I think was was a pregame party anyway.

No freaking way. I was there and left the stadium as soon as the confetti started flying. Even if they offered me a limo ride, free drinks and escargot served on a gold plate, no way I would've gone.

Would I have gone to the Giants victory party?....HELL NO!!

Why would I want to have done that with a team that defeated my team??

What next?...Going to a Breakfast Buffet with a free meal voucher given to me by Rex Ryan right on Pats vs. Jets gameday?

Did you read what I wrote??

It says Fred went to the party celebration until 4am .... You aren't celebrating anything before the game is played

I can only speak for myself but for me the issue has never been whether DeOssie had the right to pick the Giants or the right to cheer for the Giants and I don't believe I have the right to criticize him for that. If I don't feel justified in criticizing DeOssie in that regard then it is hard for me to criticize Smerlas as well. For me this has always been about the disrespectful, condescending tone of DeOssie's comments and the manner in which he chose to frame them.

DeOssie chose to criticize us and his fellow media sports talk participants for overvaluing the Patriots assets such as their receiver corp and QB and undervaluing the Giants defenders. DeOssie could have made every point he wanted to make to the onlookers at that rally without framing his position in terms of what New England supporters said or thought. DeOssie chose to do that. Nobody put a gun to his head and forced him to express himself in those terms. Immediately after framing his entire discussion around what we said or thought he then went on to make a point of informing the world about how he "struggles" living here when he has to think about his empathy for the Giants.

Had DeOssie first not framed his entire discussion of Patriots assets and Giants assets around what we said and thought and then had not gone on to make his "struggles of DeOssie" comments I really could not justify having a problem with him. Then Buckley just went completely off the rails in his defense of DeOssie. As I said before I find the fact that nobody in the Boston media has distanced himself from Buckley's comments staggering.

Hence, my own rational for why I can no longer tolerate either DeOssie or Buckley but am not really that concerned with Smerlas.
