Poor Fred Smerlas. He had a great gig going until Steve DeOssie chose to belittle New England Patriots fans and media at the Super Bowl. (If he had just stuck with rooting for the Giants because his kid plays there, all would be fine.)

Now Fred Smerlas is stuck with a big decision. Sadly, the Steve's in Fred and Steve's has to go. It's time for a clean break and a new business partner.

What would you like Fred Smerlas to do?

Go away for good with his pal Steve.

Right Said Fred...oh that's taken, sorry.
Smerlas' steakhouse. Now with more beef, less fat!

they were very popular years ago as fred [flinstone] and barney [rubble]. they could change the whole place into something that looks right out of the stone age. fred and barneys red meat rumpis room. so easy a cave man can cook it.

I was actually thinking of "Fred and Benedict's Steak House". Or how about this one? "Fred and Sleeping With The Enemy's Steak House".

Either one works. Fred might want to paint the exterior window trim in Giant blue and replace the Andre Tippett wall pics with LT or maybe Harry Carson". I mean let's stay consistent here.

Fred & Eli's

Why not? Eli apparently owns all things Patriots.

Oddly enough the "Steakhouse" seems to be getting buried under an avalanche of bad reviews many dating back well before the SB and all the way back into 2011.

More than one commenting that "owner Steve" was there on this given night and did not seem to care about his dissatisfied patrons.

That might in fact be indicative of restaurant owners that are really not restaurant people. Often a head chef will be the owner or part owner of a restaurant and I am sure you have witnessed situations where they go out of their way to make sure that a patron does not have a disappointing restaurant experience.

I had never bothered to read their reviews before. However I have to admit that based on recent experiences with DeOssie outside of the restaurant I was not surprised at the number of bad reviews. I was more surprised at the depth of the criticism. There are a few good reviews, some middle of the road reviews and bad ones that are just WOW. Again for a restaurant to draw criticism that deep is kinda' remarkable. Also, the good reviews are spattered in about the period 2010 or so and it goes downhill from there at least that is what it looked like to me.

Here are some better options:

For Sale.
In Receivership.
Closed For Business.
Condemned By Order Of Lincoln R.I. Health Department.
No Trespassing.
Danger: Quarantined.

Fred's Giant (mis) Steak House :p

Aren't they partners with Ordway in that Sunday Tailgate Party business at Gillette?

How about Fred and Benedict's Rump Roast Emporium and Massage Parlor.

I may have a solution where Fred doesn't have to change the name. Fred can force Benedict DeOssie to sell his ownership interest to a real Steve ... a Steve we all like and respect ..... Steve Grogan. No one would ever find Steve Grogan making disdainful comments about Te Patriots and their fans.

They can serve a 32-oz. porterhouse and call it their grogantuan special. ;)
