I can't bring myself to watch it yet...

That comment by the ref was heartbreaking.

I think that comment could be taken more than one way. As in, the Patriots blew a chance to wrap up the game. I don't think the refs assumed the Giants would immediately go down and take the lead. IF Welker caught the ball, "That's the game right there." See what I mean?

Yeah I see what you are saying. I guess I just took it from my perspective knowing what already happened and applying it to that comment and ultimately being like "Yep, that was the game..."

Looking forward to next season, wish it would hurry up.

I took it that way: that catch, if made, would have made it tough on the Giants to have any chance,

rather than

this gives it to the Giants

cant watch anything yet... its not as bad as 2007 but it still stings...

I understand everyone's point of view, but it's still really odd how the winning points of the Super Bowl were scored......

with the Patriots D all saying 'let em score'

and Manning mouthing the word "sh*t" upon his team scoring the go-ahead TD.

Again, I get it, but that does seem really weird, right?

Im having a hard time following why you think the score was weird. It was the only option they had, the giants were running the ball essentially killing all the time on the clock. They were either going to score or kick a field goal after burning a patriot timeout and more time off the clock giving Brady less time to get at a scoring drive.

Unless I am completely missing your point what is weird about that?

The Giants were down at the time and it was the winning score, how often do you score the winning TD near the end of the game after trailing, and your QB says ****!, no celebrating. In the context of the game it was the right thing for the Pats to do but it was unusual.

Yeah I see what you are saying I just never thought of it that way. I knew Eli knew he shouldn't have scored so they can control the clock a little bit more and ultimately kill the game on their terms. Its not unreasonable to think that Brady could score on a 1 minute drive in my opinion. Like I said though I never even thought of it like it was weird.

Me neither.

I haven't seen one clip of that game since it ended.

I'm glad we have this thread, it's good to know what was said.

Ok, maybe I did not communicate my message properly.

I completely understand the scenario and how it made sense. Trust me, I get it.

Usually when you see the winning score in the last two minutes of the Super Bowl it's followed by pure elation from the offense (think Santonio Holmes against the Cardinals, think Adam V kicking a field goal against the Panthers). When the Giants look back at their highlights, they'll see their offense mad at the guy who scored, not absolutely elated.

Again, I get it. I understand how it made sense not to score.

But even so, of course it's a weird situation to be in when the defense let's the go-ahead score walk in while the offense is mad that the guy did score.
