Well the Pats badly need a dominant pass rusher. Enter Jake Bequette. Jake Bequette top 10 pass rusher 2012 NFL draft - YouTube

23.5 sacks for his entire college career.
10 sacks in 10 games this season.
Bequette was a first-team coaches All-SEC selection this season with 28 tackles (10.5 for loss), 10 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 5 quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. He led the SEC and was tied for third in the NCAA with an average of one sack per game. Arkansas' Joe Adams, Jake Bequette coming to Jan. 28 Senior Bowl | al.com

A good scouting report on him 2012 NFL Draft Profile: Jake Bequette – DE – Arkansas | PackerChatters
Jake might be the most complete and natural 4-3 defensive end in this draft. He has excellent explosion off the ball when rushing the passer and plays the run better than some defensive tackles who are playing now in the NFL. He has great upper and lower body strength and will hold his opponent up to shed him and make a tackle with mature techniques. Jake has good change of direction skills when rushing the passer and shows the work ethic to get even better than he is right now. He is very smart, a good teammate and shows leadership skills through his play on the field. He understands his responsibilities on every play and has the football intelligence to set his opponent up to make impact plays at important parts of a game.

Sure... in the 4th.

4th? The DE sack leader in the SEC would go higher than 4th. Pats have 2 2round picks, should use one here.

He's a 3rd rounder at best.

Considering that he's very comparable with JJ Watt, I would say that he's a 1 rounder at best. Best pass rusher DE in the best conference SEC.

I'd risk taking Jared Crick before I take Bequette.

So he has many sacks. How does he do on the 90%+ of plays where he is not sacking a QB.

Also, looks more like a 43 DE tweener. Cant see him as a 34 OLB

Mmmmm....Craaaaaaaaaaaack....hghghghgh....

I would take both. Two dominant pass rushers are surely better than 1. They could feed off eachother, and also together with Wilfork and Carter, would be a monster sack machine.

When he's not sacking he's causing fumbles, hurrying the QB, and tackling.

Remind me again where Tom Brady was ranked. I forgot.

and remind me again where Courtney Brown was drafted ? or JerMarcus Russell ?

trying to compare every pick to where Tom Brady was drafted is height of stupidity.

No, the height of stupidity is following blindly the so called "draft experts".

And thanks for proving my point with JM Russel.

lol, looks like you follow SEC football quite a bit.

Let me give you a name - Go lookup Eric Norwood a DE who played in the SEC at South Carolina, then comeback and chat. I will even give you another hint, try Carolina panthers and see how many sacks he had in the NFL. Lookup where he was drafted, ok.

yea, the draft experts are idiots and your're the genius.

as for proving the point Peyton Manning was #1. Hey, Pats should draft this DE with #27pick !!!!!!!!!!!! :bricks:

Considering that this is a passer's league, pass rushers are very important for a defence. The Pats defence gave up a ton of yardage both regular season and SB. Adding legit pass rushers would certainly help a lot.

Go look up Texans defence against the pass last year and this year and see what happens when you add legit pass rushers and a top CB. It improved from one of the worst to one of the best. Gave up like 92 yards per game less, and got a ton of 3 and outs, something that this Pats defence cant get to save their lives. Getting more 3 and out means more Brady and Pats offence on the field, and great things happen for the Pats when that is the case.
To me, Bequette looks like a legit pass-rusher, and he has the stats to prove it. I would take him in the second round no later, considering how starved this passing league is for legit pass-rushers.

As for Norwood, he is undersized, so its not that surprising that he didnt translate to NFL.

I don't understand the point of drafting him early when you get him late? Would you rather the Pats take him in the 4th round, or the 1st round?...Yeah.

I dont think he's gonna be the next jarred allen, the highest i've seen him ranked anywhere is late third, and i've seen him all the way to the back of the 6th. He could be a good project end, but not a guy you want to put a 2nd round tag on and look like a fool for drafting him that early. But then again, you never know. The niners, according to all the draft experts, reached by three rounds for Chris Culliver, who ended up being a top 5 rookie CB in the league this year.

Nope.

He did few things at Arkansas. In Arkansas, he played the 43 LDE spot. Sometimes they would play 34 and he would move over to 34LOLB and pass rush. He also dropped a lot in zone blitzes and covered. He can def play in space.

This is why the Combine exists, in addition to the medical exams & height/weight measurements.

Let's see how good his COD skills are, and his hands too when he participates in LB drills.
An exceptional showing could place him inside top-100 status.

Doh!! is Vindicated!! :rocker:

My HERO!!
