Tomorrow's game is the real Superbowl

Meanwhile, Trent Green was leaking oil all over the field. When the passing game is no threat whatsoever it's actually fairly easy to stop the run regardless if it's Larry Johnson, Walter Payton or xxx toting the rock. What, we're supposed to be in awe of Indy beating the Chiefs in their little cocoon?

And that didn't happen much of the season to get them to the playoffs? Sure you can bring up Huard who did ok, but LJ is still LJ. He is a passing thread as well as a running threat.

Please fin a way to understand that any playoff win is a good win. Some gave the Chiefs a good shot at winning that game. This is the NFL. Anything can happen. That is why they play the game.

The Colts have kicked Pats butt two straight times, and the game will be in Indy. If (if if if) they beat the Chargers, it is no automatic Superbowl win. The Colts really scare me, and they are playing with plenty of momentum, and they have no reason to be scared of the Patriots.

Plus, I don't think I'll live to see it. All the incessant Vinatieri talk will cause me to keel over and die. It'll be 100X worse than the Mangini-Belichick "will they or won't they touch hands" discussion.

Beating the Colts would be harder because of the little cocoon they play in. It is a legit home field advantage.

But lest we not forget 5 NE turnovers in the narrow Colts win in the last match up. Something tells me the Colts won't have 5 gimme turnovers if there is a re-match.

That's right. But just because it's the playoffs it doesn't mean your turn off your brain. I saw the Chiefs as an average team all year. They were an average team in the playoffs. The Ravens offense has been overrated all year. They were still overrated in the playoffs. A W is a W. You are right about that. Only thing is, some Ws are more impressive than others.

Yeah I agree, regular season doesn't matter too much. And the Pats were in that game until the end, despite all the turnovers, and they are a vastly different team now. It's just that lately the Colts have played the Pats well, and it's a reason to be uncomfortable.

Although, on the bright side, Belichick won't be too far behind on the gameplanning. These two teams have played each other so much, how much more is there to know?

Edit: IF they beat the Chargers. I know it doesn't matter, but I like to pretend that I can jinx something.

This thread reminds me a bit of Pitt. saying they pretty much won the Super Bowl in 2001- even though they didn't even make it. The "real" Super Bowl is the real Super Bowl. Just IMO, of course.

and the rams thinking they will blow us out...
are we as fans becoming too overconfident for own good because of the success we have had ? just a question..what do you guys think ?

Whoever wins tomorrow has to be favorewd over the Colts next week.

The Colts D gave them their two wins. But I think they are playing over their heads. I really don't think they can stop the Chargers O, and I think Brady can pick them apart.

Both the Chargers and the Pats have physical D's which will be after Manning all day. The Colts O didn't do squat against the Chiefs nor the Ravens, and I don't expect them to do anything much better against the Pats or Bolts.

They question is whether theit D can withstand the Chargers' weapons or the Pats' ability to manage the game. I really don't think so.

If the Pats win tomorrow, the game will be played in Indy, giving the Colts one big advantage, which at least opens the door for them. If the Chargers win, I really don't see them being able to pull out another win.

I think as long as the team isn't overconfident, what we think doesn't matter. It CAN make us sound obnoxious, though.

i disagree...chargers will be favored over the colts ..not the pats ..on the road for successive weeks
the tougher wins by indy have made them more tougher IMO...no one thought they would out physical the ravens or match them and they did

I certainly hope Indy IS favored. Ya know, the old "disrespect" thing.

First things first... right now it's time to unplug the chargers, then we can worry about gelding the colts. I'm thinking if we perform against the SD pass rush, the Indy "look mom I can spin around!" pass rush should pose relatively limited problems.

I am the first person to say the NFC is a joke compared to the AFC, and that Manning sucks in the playoffs, but hey, this isn't the MLB: One game decides it. All the teams that are remaining can bet all of the other teams in ONE game. The Seahawks are good enough to make the super bowl and beat any of the three AFC teams. Do I think they will? Heck no. Can they? Yep.

Not to sidetrack this thread, but what do you think about the SD pass rush vs. Brady and company? SD has a monster rush, and with Castillo back, it will be even better. Merriman, Philips, Godfrey, Castillo, Cooper--all can get to most QB's. BUt Brady seems to be slippery and can get the ball off quickly.

I think the most important stat tomorrow will be turnovers, but I think the next thing will be who wins--Brady or the pass rush.

I saw most of the Chargers games on tv or from downloading, and I know how awesome the pass rush is. But I have not really watched Brady that much this year in the face of a decent rush. I would hate to see Brady dumping off to Faulk or others to make nice gains in the face of pressure.
