Colin Cowherd asked King that question this afternoon, in light of Kraft's comments about Myra's passing, his own sense of mortality, etc.

FWIW, King's answer was, in one word: "No."

Agree or disagree?

Not sure. He has to fix the defensive backend. The problem is that the Safety class this year is awful. Most of them are true SS, which we do not need. The FS class is just non existent.

There is no FS I like this year. So we could be picking up a 2nd round CB and move either McC or Ras I Dowling to FS.

Re: Peter King, when asked if BB feels "pressure" to use all his draft picks this yea

He feels no pressure.

But you never know. We didn't see the '07 offseason coming, either. And unlike last year, free agency predates the draft, so BB doesn't have to fill needs that way which can be addressed through FA.

Re: Peter King, when asked if BB feels "pressure" to use all his draft picks this yea

Last couple years he seems to take a position and go all in on it. 2 years ago it was TE, last year it RB. This year, ??? It won't be receiver more than likely and I don't know what type of class we'll be getting (which positions are strongest).

But, I imagine BB will do with his picks as he usually does unless he sees the player he really has to have.

Agree. BB doesn't give a **** what us ******s on message boards and all the media idiots around the country have to say. He makes makes the best choice given the information that is available. He's here to put together a good team and win games. He's been a HC in 5 super bowls, he doesn't have to people please anymore.

Re: Peter King, when asked if BB feels "pressure" to use all his draft picks this yea

Free agency is before the draft. He'll pick through the free agents and then look at the draft board. I doubt he feels any particular pressure about the draft.

He needs to find players. They don't need to be found via the draft.

Front 4 needs more of a fixing. You can hide the DB flaws if you have stout front 4(ie Giants)
-Carter will be 34 and not a full time player with injury and age
-Ellis, Warren are 34+, old and done
-Resign Mark Anderson ?
-Wilfork will be 31 this year with no backup
-Brace, supposedly wilfork backup, is a bust
-Rest of D line are JAGS be it Deadrick, Love

I like this years draft talent so i feel this will be a good draft regardless of how where we pick. I just hope we don't squander anymore picks on has-beens. I didn't expect much from ocho the moment I heard rumors of his arrival here but he didn't even come close to the low expectations I placed on him. Better yet, BB should be banned from trading for players during training camp altogether. That should prevent anymore ochos, haynesworths, and derrick burgess from coming here.

Re: Peter King, when asked if BB feels "pressure" to use all his draft picks this yea

By leveraging his draft picks he is getting 3-4 picks in the first 3 rounds every year. If he uses all the picks the leverage goes away and he only has 2 picks in those rounds.

So if you want to consistently get to the tournament you do it the way BB does it.

I agree

Kraft does not interfere with strictly football decisions.....he's the money man

and define 'using a draft pick' ....... as in drafting someone or trading one for say , mario williams or mike wallace?

yes.....all of the draft picks will be used.....they're not going to give any of them away.

Wilfork, Love, Pryor, Anderson, and Deadrick should be the core going forward.

Re: Peter King, when asked if BB feels "pressure" to use all his draft picks this yea

This year, anything Belichick has done in the draft in the past goes out the window. This is the first draft under the new CBA with a rookie salary cap.

In the past, Belichick has been less inclined to trade up to get a blue chip draft prospect because of the cap ramifications if he busts out. This year, that cap ramifications drops exponentially (yes, it did last year too, but at the time of the draft no one knew if there would be a rookie cap and what it would look like).

Belichick could go about this year's draft business as usual, but I wouldn't go into it expecting it for sure. There is a whole new set of rules now with the draft for every team with the new CBA.

I think you'd need a pretty vivid imagination to come up with that question.

You never know. Maybe he'll let McDaniels pick a toy. He drafted Demaryius Thomas and other than the injuries he has looked like a stud when you factor in who is throwing to hin.

Wilfork, Love, Pryor, Anderson, and Deadrick should be the core going forward.

Deadrick was pretty good down the stretch this season. As long as he can stay healthy, he will be a pretty good player. Not a stud or a standout, but solid.

This only works if he hits on the picks. He's never chosen an truly unproductive player in the first round. Even the so-called "Busts" had some good years. Meanwhile, the history of the drop downs outside the first round has been extremely spotty.

You would only get the extra 1st for one year then you would be drafting at the end of the first and second round every year. If you have enough quantity you can asorb the misses in the first 3 rounds that every team makes. If you have 5-6 picks you have a higher probability of getting 3 good players.

Your theory is fine. It's the practice of it that's been a failure. In other words, the problem is that the team hasn't been able to absorb those misses....

I disagree it has been a failure we now have a pretty young core group as BB has turned over the roster in the past 3 years. This is a tougher roster than most to make so not all draft picks will make the team, especially since we always find a UDFA or 2 that make the team.

Come on, now.... This team just got beat largely because it had a bunch of steaming piles all over the defensive side of the ball and couldn't stop a struggling Giants team down the stretch. The trade down route has been an absolute disaster on the defensive side of the ball.
